Despite not being guaranteed a start, Ranier was the firmer in the TAB all in market for the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) next week after a luckless effort on Saturday.
The Godolphin three year old ran in the Poseidon (1400m) and he should have won had it not been for a poor steer from Hugh Bowman. The horse eventually got clear and just missed out on picking up Wild Planet. He was $26 prior to the race but is now into $17.
The dominant favourite remains The Autumn Sun, who is at $2.30 and potentially could start shorter should he draw a decent barrier.
