One of the highlight races at the Gold Coast this Saturday is the Magic Millions Country Cup (1200m), where the race looks wide open on paper.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2026 Magic Millions Country Cup.
2026 Magic Millions Country Cup Runner Preview:
1. King Gutho: Has placed in this race twice before and was an impressive winner on the home deck at Queanbeyan last start. Just not 100% sold on him though. That said, good speed in front, he’ll get every chance to finish hard late.
2. Earl Of Bantry: Stable openly admitted it was a rushed decision to resume at Toowoomba after missing a run on Boxing Day. Did a reasonable job and has the C Maher polish, but I can’t entertain him.
3. Sir Carter: Led throughout and gave nothing else a look in when a first-up winner at Dalby. That was 1000m and he has won up to 1400m so 1200m should be no issue. The question is if rain arrives — will the inside gate be a blessing or a nightmare?
4. Mean Approach: Dominant win two back at Toowoomba but did too much work last time at Eagle Farm. He is good enough to win but will need luck.
5. Letmeletgo: J Mac tax applied to this one, me thinks. He is going just fair this prep, not as good as previous preps. He can go through to the keeper.
6. Revolt: Such a fascinating runner. Jay Morris had him for ten starts and he won seven of them, most by a space. Too good in North Queensland. This is a good test fresh at 1200m, but he looks a beauty who will press forward and give his all.
7. Media Empire: Hit and miss, but at this level looks outclassed.
8. Deciduous: Ambulance a good chance of beating him home.
9. Party Spirit: Borderline Saturday-class mare but best suited at 1000m–1100m. A high-pressure 1200m looks too much, so for mine she is gross unders.
10. Oberoi Princess: Did a bit too much early work here last time yet battled on really well when third. Her task from the gate makes it near impossible.
11. Jemeldi: Sneaky good run first-up here but I do think he is outclassed.
12. Arctic Legend: A few weeks between runs since resuming over 1000m here. The market said he’d need the run and that proved correct when down the track, finding them a bit sharp. He was promising with Cody Morgan and trialled well prior, so I’m not dismissing him.
13. Stratified: Handy horse who will press forward but I don’t think he’ll see out 1200m at this level.
14. The Deputy: Yard and market watch. He definitely has the ability to win, will be strong late and resumes without a public trial. Suspect he’ll be trained right up to the minute.
15. Master Of Disguise: Each-way for me. Loved the way she let down to win two back at Orange before stepping to 1400m at Canberra in a Federal where she tried hard but felt the pinch late. Back to 1200m looks ideal, should get a drag across and be strong late.
16. Hellcibell: SCR
17. Astra Star (First Emergency): Seems very short for a horse with solid enough form but nothing to jump up and down about. Trial was fine, maps to stalk the speed, but $7 is far too short.
18. I Am Voodoo (Second Emergency): SCR
19. Slush Fund (Third Emergency): SCR
20. Bundella (Fourth Emergency): SCR
21. Corrupted (Fifth Emergency): SCR
