With runners in six of the eight races at Gunnedah today, Newcastle trainer Kris Lees should walk away with most of the spoils.
He should land at least three.
Four is a distinct possibility, five, hmmmm may be stretching it and six would be front page news.
But he could achieve it.
His best hopes appear to be ENDORPHINS (Sebring-Kidnapper) in race 2. This 3YO filly is having her 3rd race start and is coming off a solid 4th last start in this grade. That little bit of experience is bound to help.
It’s hard to split the Lees pair in race 4. They are FU NI (Adelaide-Demerger), who ran 4th last start in this grade and she too is fitter for that outing where she charged home over 1350m from a mile back. Today it’s 1600m.
In the same race SURF (Hallowed Crown-Tide) represents the stable and she too has form at this level placing three of her past four starts.
Once you have collected a heap of winnings by now, par lay it into the Lees prepared POLITICAL (Snitzel-Star Satire) in race 5. This bloke is particularly fit and extremely well weighted for this assignment.
MAGIC PALACE (Spirit Of Boom-Laurinel Argie) front sup to compete in race 6 and she might be his best hope of the day. She is 3rd up, peaks for this, has drawn gate 2 and looks to get all the favours throughout the race.
Then we end the day with MARRIED TO THE MOB (Foxwedge-Pfeiffer) in the last.
You have to have some faith here in-so-much as you need to forgive him his last start.
He was in this grade last time out, off the inside draw, and they jumped out of the trees to back him.
Who knows exactly, but he jumped smartly so he went up and sat a length off the speed with cover.
Normally he gets back a bit and runs on and this being 2nd up, that close to the pace, he plodded over the final 150m ending up 5th less than 2 lengths from the winner.
Heavyweight hoop this time, 3rd up, no doubt settled back into about 6th spot and being fitter, with this longer straight, I see him whizzing home.
Hmmm, there is a case there Lees lands all six races!
Good luck. I’m on at least four of them.
