One of the feature races at Ascot this Saturday is the Karrakatta Plate (1200m), where the market says Aurum Belle is the one to beat.

2026 Karrakatta Plate Runner Preview:
1. Beatty: I really like Beatty here. I don’t think he was ready re fitness in the Perth Stakes but class came to the fore when it mattered and he drove hard to finish best. He has got more upside than just about any other runner, he maps perfect and gets W Pike aboard.
2. He’s A Machino: Thought he had every chance in front in the Perth Stakes and was nabbed late by the stablemate. Can’t see him turning the tables.
3. Wolf Whistle Zel: Wide no cover in the Perth Stakes and tired late. Not sure he wins, but with better luck, could pinch first four.
4. Boy Crush: Ridden cold in the Perth Stakes and he reacted, finding the line well. Maps to do no work, a knockout chance.
5. Afireofgidgeecoals: Had his chance in the Perth Stakes and I have others ahead of him.
6. One Last Resort: Nice horse but he’s not up to these.
7. Aurum Belle: Aurum Belle, in terms of times, is the top seed given her Gimcrack time was a second quicker than that of Beatty. She did it from the front and gave nothing else a look in. Drawn wide but will press forward and take running down. Last 100m will be the test.
8. Maria Lucia: Tried hard in the Gimcrack but Aurum Belle was too good. Better map on paper this time around, she’s an improver and can threaten.
9. Ruthless Angel: One of a couple with eyes towards the Sires I suspect. Loved the way she closed in the Gimcrack and will motor late.
10. Jedi Dream: Wide no cover in the Gimcrack and just tired late. Tricky map but with a positive ride, can run an improved race.
11. Rok N Rom: Pretty solid debut win at this track/distance but this looks too hard.
12. Striking Alibi: Surprised most with her win last Saturday on debut but this is a bridge too far.
13. Snow Monkey: Nice filly that will be strong late…maybe has eyes on the Sires?
14. Yamanex: Another with eyes on the Sires I suspect. First four at best against these.
15. Lady Torque: Lady Torque looks the Sires horse. She was a real eye catcher in the Gimcrack, getting a mile out of her ground but really liked the way she closed her race off. Likely spots them a start but will be strong late and is a knockout hope.
16. Dixie Doo: Okay last Saturday but not here.
