James McDonald was yesterday officially crowned Sydney’s premier jockey for the fifth time and he is $1.50 to win the title again in 2021/22.
TAB this morning released markets on the Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide Jockeys’ Premierships with McDonald favourite and Tommy Berry ($3.50) the other rider at a single-figure quote in the Sydney market.
Ryan Maloney held an eight-win advantage over Jim Byrne at the end of the 2020/21 season in Brisbane and Maloney is the $1.80 favourite from Byrne ($4.50) with Kyle Wilson-Taylor at $6.
The Adelaide premiership is the most open with Todd Pannell, who outlasted Jess Eaton to score a one-win victory in last season’s award, the $2.50 favourite from Eaton ($4) and Barend Vorster ($5) with Jacob Opperman and Jason Holder at $7 and $8 respectively.
The 2021/22 Melbourne Jockeys’ Premiership has been open since midway through last month with Jamie Kah still the ruling $1.80 favourite, although there has been good support for Craig Williams ($6 into $4).
