TAB has installed James McDonald favourite to be crowned the most successful jockey at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.
A market was this afternoon posted on who would be the leading rider across the four days at Flemington with McDonald $2 favourite from Craig Williams ($3.50) and Damien Oliver ($6).
Points will be allocated on a 3-2-1 basis across all races at the Carnival, starting with tomorrow’s Derby Day meeting where McDonald is booked to ride favourites Fangirl, Great House and Minhaaj, along with other leading fancies Daisies, Brooklyn Hustle and Tutukaka.
TAB is also operating a leading trainer market, which is available in the Cup Week Hub under Racing Extras, with Chris Waller $2.80 favourite from James Cummings ($3.50) with the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace combination at $4.50.
In Melbourne Cup news, Spanish Mission has been $6 out to $9 following uncertainty around him taking his place in the race with last year’s winner Twilight Payment ($13 to $10) and Grand Promenade ($15 to $13) today’s two best-backed runners outside $2.30 favourite Incentivise.
