The feature race at Ipswich this Saturday is the Ipswich Cup (2150m), which has attracted a decent field.

2025 Ipswich Cup Runner Preview:
1. Miss Joelene: Best horse in the race, but is she here to play or does she have a crack next week at the Tatts Crown? Very sleepy/negative ride at Eagle Farm last time and only got warm very late. Like her up in trip and she has class on her side.
2. Brookhaven: Brookhaven is three weeks between runs since contesting the Lord Mayors Cup when off speed and he tried hard but on the bog, he couldn’t pick his feet up. Better suited here, he’s an improver.
3. Red Wave: He won the race last year…is he going any good 12 months on? Just fair in the Wayne Wilson and while he is better suited at this distance, just not sure he is going as good.
4. Osmose: Osmose is one of the key threats. She has placed in both runs back from a spell, the latest being over the mile at Eagle Farm when off speed but kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Adiella. Hard fit now and up in trip, she appeals.
5. Little Mix: SCR
6. Dark Destroyer: On speed in the QEll Cup and struggled in the conditions late in the piece. Firmer deck and back in grade/depth helps his cause…but he hasn’t done much for a long, long time. Going through to the keeper.
7. Warp Speed: I didn’t think he did a bad job in the QEll Cup last time, getting back off speed and did make up ground without threatening behind Campaldino. Not sure he wins, but is one for exotics.
8. Diablo Bolt: I am really keen on Diablo Bolt. Was very keen on him at the Sunny Coast last start, but I thought the ride from Jag was sleepy. That said, I still thought he was going to win but Felix The Scat drifted out under pressure and Diablo Bolt had to check off heels and lost momentum when surging. Big intent here IMO with Blinkers back on, he has the upside/sense of timing and he handles Ipswich.
9. Poetic Drama: She comes through the Eagle Farm race that Osmoe/Miss Joelene contested. She was held on the line but was badly held up when seemingly having something to offer. Interesting to see how she goes at this trip.
10. Felix The Scat: He won the race mentioned above that Diablo Bolt contested and I think most would agree that the ride won the race to go with the negative ride on Diablo Bolt. But, he is a horse that once he finds form, he holds, so he’s one for exotics.
11. Flash Aah: He ran third in the Felix The Scat race, finding the line nicely. But, he hasn’t won in a long time and just not sure he is up to these.
12. Raf Attack: Thought he had every possible chance in the Felix The Scat race and just whacked to the line. Not up to this lot.
13. Akrotiri: I think he gets front end control but he hasn’t got the class to see it through.
14. Philipsburg: Grand campaigner but needs to be in benchmark races.

I can’t see much early tempo here. Akrotiri maybe as a pacemaker for Diablo Bolt? Dark Destroyer has been settling on speed in recent starts but seems better with a sit. Maybe Osmoe? Maybe…but it looks like it could be a crawl.
