RACE TWO

Mr Hussill was the popular elect for the running of the TAB Highway Class 3 Handicap (1200 metres).

The Cam Crockett-trained galloper held 43 percent of the money and firmed from $3.40-$2.70 on the day. Such was the dominance of the gelding in betting that he held two-and-a-half times as much money as anything else.

Sunrise Ruby ($6-$10) generally drifted but was still the third most popular horse behind the favourite and also Danzadel ($7.50).

RACE THREE

So Wicked was pretty solid throughout the afternoon in the lead up to the ATC Thanks Frontline Workers Handicap (1800 metres).

Hovering around the $5-$5.50 mark for most of the day, So Wicked only attracted light support compared to the favourite.

La Chevalee ($2.50-$3-$2.80) was soft late but was still the only horse to hold six figures with TAB Fixed Odds. My Demetra ($9.50-$7) was a big mover early in the day.

BETS: So Wicked $1,000 @ $5.50

BETS: La Chevalee $1,750 @ $2.90, $2,000 @ $2.80, $1,300 @ $2.80

BETS: My Demetra $2,000 x $1,240 e/w @ $7/$2.30

RACE FOUR

Silent Agenda didn’t have much love from TAB customers leading into The Agency Real Estate Handicap (1800 metres).

The Joe Pride runner went $17-$21 before a late nibble saw it jump at $19. It was one of the least favoured horses in the event.

Badoosh ($4.80-$4-$4.20) went around with the most money while Mr Gee ($4.20-$3.80-$4) was close behind.

BETS: Mr Gee $2,000 @ $3.80, $1,600 @ $3.80

RACE FIVE

There was light specking for most of the day to suggest Ashman would run a big race in the Midway Handicap (1300 metres).

Kim Waugh’s stable rep was $19-$15-$17 on the day but was at $26 when markets opened on Wednesday. The gelding was tried at eachway odds and was actually the fifth most popular horse in terms of money held behind Zorocat ($2.90-$3.40-$3.20), Catapult ($5-$4.20-$5), Rock My Wand ($5.50-$7-$5.50) and Lord Zoulander ($9-$12).

BETS: Catapult $1,000 @ $4.80 multiple times

BETS: Zorocat $1,090 @ $3.20

RACE SIX

Despite getting out in the market it was Wairere Falls which proved best in the ATC Thank You Owners Handicap (1500 metres).

Chris Waller and James McDonald’s charge went $4.60-$3.90 before getting back out to $4.60 at the jump, with the gelding the second most popular galloper in terms of money.

Although holding some decent support it was only half of what the favourite Canasta ($2.70) held.

BETS: Wairere Falls $1,000 e/w @ $4.40/$1.65, $1,000 @ $4.40 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Canasta $5,000 @ $2.70, $6,000 @ $2.60

RACE EIGHT

Sixgun was heavily backed and one of the best tried runners on the card.

The Mark Newnham-trained galloper was $4.40 this morning which was tremendous value in hindsight. Such was the level of support for the gelding that he was crunched into $2.80 and clear top pick.

Sixgun held roughly 20 percent of the total investment.

Miss Dior ($7) was popular too with eachway players while others to have had specking included Nikohli Beagle ($7-$10-$9) and Brazenpine ($26-$19).

BETS: Sixgun $1,000 @ $4, $1,000 @ $3.80, $1,700 @ $2.80, $1,000 @ $2.80 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,000 @ $2.70 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Miss Dior $2,000 x $500 e/w @ $7.50/$2.40, $1,000 e/w @ $7.50/$2.40

BETS: Brazenpine $1,000 @ $19 TWICE

BETS: De Grawin $2,000 @ $8.50

BETS: Van Giz $2,000 @ $12

RACE NINE

The last push for Valaquenta paid dividends in the Fujitsu General Handicap (1100 metres).

Backed from $8-$5.50, the James Cummings-trained runner went around as the second most popular runner behind Spaceboy ($4.40-$5.50).

Although a drifter, Spaceboy held 25 percent of the money but Valaquenta was the only other runner to hold six figures.

BETS: Valaquenta

BETS: Spaceboy $4,000 @ $5.50, $2,000 @ $5.50, $1,000 @ $5.50 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,000 @ $5

BETS: Best Stone $2,000 @ $5.50

MOONEE VALLEY

RACE ONE

Punters got off to a tough start at the Valley with Jigsaw a costly favourite.

The $1.75 hotpot, which opened the day at $1.60, went around as one of the most popular gallopers all day and held 65 percent of the total investment and was more than 10 times as popular as the winner, Rock Artist.

Trained by Ken and Kasey Keys, Rock Artist ($16-$14) had some specking and was one of the better tried runners outside the fav.

BETS: Jigsaw $4,950 @ $1.70, $2,852 @ $1.70, $2,300 @ $1.70, $3,000 @ $1.60

RACE FIVE

Although a drifter for most of the day, I’m Thunderstruck was ultra impressive in taking out the Dominant Cleaning Solutions Handicap (1514 metres).

The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained runner was $1.85 in the morning but blew out to $2.30 at the jump despite holding two-and-a-half times as much money as anything else in the race.

Tuvalu ($3.90-$3) was best backed to beat it.

BETS: Im Thunderstruck $2,000 @ $2.30, $3,000 @ $2.25, $2,500 @ $2.25 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE SEVEN

One of the better pushes of the afternoon came in the Dominant Travis Harrison Cup (2500 metres) thanks to Smokin Romans.

The $2.30 favourite was responsible for 35 percent of the total investment but was heavily tried through multis too.

Smokin Romans was the only horse to hold six figures and the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace runner was nearly three times as popular as anything else.

BETS: Smokin Romans $4,000 @ $2.40, $3,000 @ $2.40, $2,050 @ $2.30

RACE EIGHT

Mr Pickwick caused an upset in the eighth event on the card.

Scoring at $26, Mr Pickwick carried some money at the eachway odds but most punters were in the corner of Red Santa ($4-$3.70).

The Maher & Eustace runner went around as the only horse to hold six figures and was responsible for 35 percent of the market.

Capricorn Ridge ($11-$8.50) was a noted firmer while Namakwa ($6-$9.50), Seb Song ($7.50-$7) and Golden Fourth ($16) all had their share of support.

BETS: Red Santa $1,000 e/w @ $4/$1.80, $1,500 @ $3.80, $2,000 @ $3.50
