RACE FIVE – MIDWAY HANDICAP

Punters showed strong support for Our Bellagio Miss in the inaugural running of the Midway Handicap (1100m).

Opening at $7.00 on Wednesday, she firmed to $3.10 on Saturday but drifted to $4.40 before the jump. Despite the drift, Our Bellagio Miss was the best backed of the day and held more than double the amount of the second and third runners combined.

RACE SIX – LYNETTE LAMPHEE MEMORIAL HANDICAP

Oscar Zulu was favourite with the punters heading into the Lynette Lamphee Memorial Handicap (1500m). Opening at $4.40 it continued to firm to jump at $3.70, however late interest in Cisco Bay shortened it to $3.20 making it favourite at the jump.

RACE NINE – ELITE SAND & SOIL HANDICAP

Punters were burnt when favourite Wicklow came undone in the Elite Sand & Soil Handicap (1800m) at Rosehill. A short favourite throughout the week, Wicklow opened at $1.85 on Saturday and drifting to $2.30 before the jump. Despite the drift on the day, Wicklow was extremely well backed the holding 50 percent of the market.

In the end, Steely was victorious winning at $11 odds. Despite only holding 2 percent of the market, there was consistent support for the gelding throughout the day firming from $14.

RACE THREE – BANJO PATTERSON SERIES FINAL

Grand Promenade absolutely trotted in to win the Banjo Patterson Series Final (2600m) at Flemington. The gelding opened with TAB at $1.70 on Wednesday and firmed to $1.40 at the start of the day, before drifting to $1.70 at the jump.

RACE FIVE – RIVETTE SERIES FINAL

An exciting photo finish at Flemington with Foxy Frida just got in front Divine Diosa.

However, punters were getting behind Double Chance who was the biggest mover of the day. Opening at $26 on Wednesday, it continued to firm to $10 on Saturday getting to as short as $5.00 before drifting to $6.50 at the jump.

BETS: Star of Uma $1,000 @ $4.00; $1,200 @ $3.70; $1,000 @ $4.20

RACE SIX – WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES FINAL

Punters were disappointed when short favourite Dice Roll was rolled in Winter Championship Series Final (1600m) at Flemington. TAB opened at $3.00 on Wednesday and the support flooded in with the punters crunching the price to $1.70. The support was so strong for the gelding it held 57 percent of the market.

In the end, Mongalian Marshall stormed home at juicy odds of $41 and only 2 percent of the market.
