Welsh Legend managed to hold on for her second win from a fast-finishing Laure Me In

Welsh Legend was $6 to as short as $4.80 before closing $5.50 raceday favourite

Laure Me In opened $15 on Wednesday and was as short as $5.50 before closing $7

Third placegtter Yonkers drifted from $3.80 raceday morning favourite to $7

Loves To Rock was backed from $12 to $6 second elect but failed to run a placing

 

Race 3

Despite a late betting drift, Grand Piano overpowered Rapido Chaparro in the last 100m

 Grand Piano was as short as $3 on raceday morning before eventually closing $4 favourite

Bets of note on Grand Piano were $5,000 at $3.20, $5,000 at $3.10 and $5,000 at $3

Fourth placegetter Word For Word was $6.50 to $5.50 on raceday (as short as $5)

Late support for Donandkim ($11 to $8) and Designated ($16 to $8.50) failed to materialise

Rapido Chaparro ($19) and Oxford Tycoon (as much as $12 to $9) minor placegetters

 

Race 4

Sweet Scandal denied In Her Time victory in the late stages of the Hawkesbury Crown

Sweet Scandal charged in the last 100 metres to thwart In Her Time a fairytale finish

Sweet Scandal was specked on raceday from $17 to $12 before closing $14

In Her Time was as short as $3 before closing $3.40 favourite

Just over half of the money on the win hold was for In Her Time

Bets of note on In Her Time included $6,000 at $3.40 and $5,000 at $3

Third placegetter Dyslexic was supported at a price from $14 to $9

One bet of $4,500 the win / $1,500 the place @ $8.50/$2.80 on fourth-placed Irithea

 

Race 5

In another close finish at Rosehill, Tactical Advantage claimed the Hawkesbury Gold Rush

Tactical Advantage was easy in raceday betting from $11 to $15 (touched $16)

Runner-up Villami was $6 to $4.60 on raceday before closing $5 equal favourite

Bets on Villami included $5,500 at $5 and $5,000 at $4.80

Fourth-placed Graff was $4.60 to as much as $5.50 before sharing favouritism at $5

Third placegetter God Of Thunder drifted from $10 to $13 on raceday

The plunge on Albumin ($26 to $11 on raceday) did not come off

 

Race 6

Dawn Passage was too good for his rivals in the last 200 metres of the Hawkesbury Guineas

In an open betting race, Dawn Passage closed $7.50 when the barriers opened

One TAB punter placed a $2,000 bet at $7.50 on Dawn Passage

Bandersnatch was the $5 favourite until his late scratching behind the barriers

St Covet’s Spirit ($12) was the runner-up in the Hawkesbury Guineas

Third placegetter Icebath was an eventual $6.50 equal favourite but was easy on raceday

The unplaced Eleven Eleven and Spend closed $6.50 equal favourites with Icebath

 

Race 7

Amangiri saw daylight with 250 metres to go and saluted in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup

Amangiri held outright favouritism for most of raceday but eased late from $4 to $5

Amangiri shared top billing with fourth-placed Archedemus (backed from $17 to $5)

Runner-up Live And Free tightened from $6 to $5 before closing $7

Another Dollar (as much as $51 to $26 on raceday) finished third

One bet of $4,500 @ $23 on the unplaced Mask Of Time late in betting

 

Race 8

Favourite punters were distraught after Oakfield Missile pipped True Detective on the line

True Detective was backed from $3.50 to $2.60 including an $8,000 wager at $2.80

One TAB punter was luckier after placing $10,000 at $1.55 on True Detective to place

Oakfield Missile eased on raceday from $17 to $26

Miss Einstein ($6 to $7), Tricky Gal ($6 to $8) and Segalas ($7.50 to $9.50) were unplaced

Soldier Of Love ($41) was the third placegetter

 

FLEMINGTON

 

Race 1

In an open affair, Flying Award broke through at his third start in the ANZAC Day Stakes

Flying Award hovered around $4.80 for most of raceday before closing as the $5 favourite

Runner-up Ironedge ($51 to $21 on raceday) almost landed a long-range plunge

Third placegtter Indictment drifted from $8.50 to $10 on raceday

Diala ($4.40 to $5.50 on raceday) and Gradslam ($5 to $6 on raceday) were unplaced

Bets placed on Diala yesterday included $4,500 at $6 and $5,000 at $5.50

Wyld Savanna (as much as $8.50 to $6.50) and Itzhot ($18-$10-$12) were also unplaced

 

Race 2

After seeing daylight with 200 metres remaining, Naivasha flew to claim her fourth win

Naivasha tightened from $4.60 to $3.90 on raceday before easing late to $4.40 favourite

Bets on Naivasha included $5,000 at $4.40, $4,500 at $4.40 and $5,000 at $5

Runner-up Cryptic Jewel eased on raceday from $7.50 to $9.50 (touched $10)

Third placegetter Lamu drifted from $4 raceday morning favourite to $5

The unplaced Nerve Not Verve was a notable raceday drifter ($4.20 to $6.50)

Part Time Lover ($16 to $8) and Shokora ($18 to $11) did not figure in the placings

 

Race 3

Most punters were left to lament after Kuramae hung on to salute for the third time

Kuramae drifted in raceday betting from $26 to $41 (Lodestar was the outsider at $81)

Unplaced equal favourite Run To Perfection was backed late to $4.40

Bets included $5,000 at $4.60 and $10,000 at $4.40

Oasis Girl – also unplaced – tightened on raceday from $5 to $4.40 equal favourite

Fundraiser ($7 to $5.50 on raceday) missed the placings

Beehunter ($7.50) and Kooweerup ($6.50) were the minor placegetters

One TAB punter placed $4,500 each-way at $6/$2.10 on Kooweerup

 

Race 4

The majority of punters were stunned to see Vow And Declare fail to run a placing

Two-thirds of the support was for last year’s Melbourne Cup winner

Vow And Declare was as short as $1.70 on raceday before closing $1.85 favourite

Raceday bets of note included $10,000 at $1.85, $6,000 at $1.75 and $5,960 at $1.70

One TAB punter placed $14,500 at $2 on Vow And Declare yesterday

Haky eased in raceday betting from $10 to $12 but was too strong in the closing stages

Sin To Win ($23 to $16 on raceday) and Good Idea ($16) were the minor placegetters

One bet of $4,000 the win / $6,000 the place @ $9/$2.40 on Mirimar

 

Race 5

Even though there was a late ease in betting, Betcha Flying proved too strong late

Betcha Flying remained favourite despite getting out from $3.80 to $4.20

One TAB punter placed an $11,000 wager at $4.20 on Betcha Flying

Betcha Flying tightened from $11 to $8 for next Saturday’s Schweppes Oaks as well

Runner-up Independent Road almost landed a plunge ($31 to $10 on raceday)

Third placegetter Excelman touched $6 on raceday before drifting to $7.50

Second elect The Lifeline ($3.90 to $4.80) did not figure in the placings

 

Race 6

Sacramento nosed out Saint Eustace and survived a protest in the VRC St Leger

Sacramento was rock solid around the $5.50-$6 mark and closed $5.50

Saint Eustace was $26 out to as much as $41 on raceday before closing $34

Unplaced favourite Chains Of Honour shortened from $6.50 to $5

Raceday morning favourite Royal Crown drifted from $3.90 to $5.50 and was unplaced

Sign Seal Deliver was supported from $14 to as short as $8 before easing to $10

Wahine Toa ($26) was the third placegetter

 

Race 7

Prezado rewarded his patient backers with a tight win over The Inevitable

Prezado was fancied at a price on raceday from $13 to $8.50 (as short as $8)

The Inevitable drifted as raceday favourite from 2.50 to $3.80

The Inevitable firmed from $15 to $11 for The Goodwood on May 16

Third placegetter Malibu Style ($10 to $5) was not able to land the plunge

Milwaukee was specked on raceday ($13 to $10) and finished fourth

 

Race 8

Last start Warracknabeal Cup winner Rupture was too strong for his rivals

Rupture was $3.50 favourite, drifted to $4.60 and eventually closed $4.20

Rupture lost favouritism due to the strong backing for Dadoozdart

Dadoozdart was supported from $4.60 to $3.40 favourite but failed to run a place

Bets on Dadoozdart included $7,000 and $4,500 at $4.60 plus $4,000 at $3.60

Hang Man ($11) and Super Titus ($13) were the minor placegetters

 

MORPHETTVILLE (FEATURE RACES)

 

Race 1

Ecumenical recorded her third victory from four starts in the Breeders’ Stakes

Ecumenical tightened on raceday from $6.50 to as short as $4.80 before closing $5

The biggest shock was the unplaced run of favourite Charm School

Charm School opened $5.50 on Wednesday, touched $2.40 on raceday and closed $2.60

Bets included $8,000 at $3.30 (Wed), $8,000 at $3.10 (Thurs) and $8,000 at $2.40 (raceday)

Crown Mint ($6.50) and Ranting (as much as $7 to $5.50) were the minor placegetters

 

Race 5 (Parks)

Wild Vixen registered her third win from nine starts in the H.C. Nitschke Stakes

Wild Vixen was supported on raceday from $11 to $7.50

Unplaced favourite Night Express tightened on raceday from $3.70 to $2.90

One TAB punter placed a $6,350 wager at $3.30 on Night Express

Runner-up Really Discreet was specked from $19 to $12 including a $2,500 bet at $12

Done By Me ($14) finished third

One bet of $4,000 the win / $6,000 the place @ $13/$3.40 on Balaabel

 

Race 8 (Parks)

In a surprise result, A Shin Rook held off Dexter You Devil in the City of Adelaide Handicap

A Shin Rook had not raced since last November’s runner-up finish in the Kilmore Cup

A Shin Rook drifted from $12 to $26 on raceday

Dexter You Devil was backed at a price from $15 to $9.50

Third placegetter Hard Empire eased late from $5 to $6.50 despite a $5,000 bet at $5

Haunted and Waging War were the $5.50 unplaced equal favourites

 

Race 9

It was a case of short but sweet for favourite backers of Dalasan in the Chairman’s Stakes

Dalasan ranged up to Themoonlitegambler ($14) and won in comfortable fashion

Dalasan opened $2.10 on Wednesday and was backed on raceday from $1.65 to $1.50

The biggest raceday wager on Dalasan was $5,000 at $1.50

Third placegetter Warning was $3.70 to $5.50 with one late bet of $5,000 at $5.50
