ROSEHILL

RACE ONE

The best supported runner to knock off the favourite in the Drinkwise Plate (1100 metres) landed the cash.

Sancy, out of the Team Snowden yard, was $8.50 when markets first opened on Wednesday and came in for good backing almost immediately. Today, she was $4.40-$3 but still held nearly three times less money than the fav.

Hinchbeast went around as a popular elect with TAB customers at $2.15 and was responsible for 61 percent of the total investment. He opened at $2.90 on Wednesday and was $2.60-$2 today before getting back out a touch late.

BETS: Sancy $2,000 @ $3.10, $1,625 @ $3.10, $1,000 @ $3.10

BETS: Hinchbeast $1,800 @ $2.20, $2,100 @ $2.15, $1,000 @ $2.15 MULTIPLE TIMES, $4,000 @ $2.10, $2,255 @ $2, $2,140 @ $2 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE TWO

In a fairly competitive betting race it was Adana that took out the Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1800 metres).

Adana went around as a $9.50 chance and didn’t hold a great deal of money. In fact, it was the least favoured of the seven runners.

Nordic ($9.50-$6.50) was the most notable firmer while Statuesquely ($3) held the most money.

BETS: Statuesquely $1,400 @ $3, $2,000 @ $2.90

BETS: Convinced $2,000 @ $3.70

BETS: Nordic $1,500 x $1,000 e/w @ $6.50/$3, $1,000 @ $6.50,

RACE THREE

An exciting edition of the TAB Highway Handicap (1800 metres) was taken out by the most popular horse, Gunga Din.

Opening a $7 chance on Wednesday when markets were first released, Gunga Din was backed pretty much straight away and today continued to firm from $4.20-$3.80.

The Keith Dryden-trained runner held more than four times the amount of money than anything else in the event.

Defy ($17-$10) was a nice go at odds while Just In The Clear ($21-$14) was also the recipient of eachway support.

BETS: Gunga Din $1,500 @ $3.60, $1,000 @ $3.60

BETS: Clergyman $1,000 @ $6

BETS: Dew Drop $1,000 @ $10

BETS: Defy $1,000 @ $10 TWICE

BETS: Acquittal $1,000 @ $7, $1,000 @ $6.50

RACE FOUR

In a fairly competitive betting race it was Guise which defied a slight drift in betting to take out the Graeme Ferris Handicap (2000 metres).

The Chris Waller runner went $7.50-$11 on the day and wasn’t entirely friendless, however, there were stronger pushes for the likes of Dark Pearl ($11-$7.50), Fun Fact ($4.80) and Mangione ($2.40).

BETS: California Longbow $1,000 @ $5

BETS: Mangione $2,200 @ $2.40, $2,000 @ $2.40 TWICE

BETS: Californiafirebird $2,000 @ $13

BETS: Fun Fact $2,000 @ $4.80, $1,000 @ $4.80 TWICE

RACE FIVE

The two roughies fought out the finish of the Bisley Workwear Handicap (1500 metres).

Bobby Dee ($18-$31) and Silent Explorer ($16-$34) held less than five percent of the market between them.

Starla, $8 on Wednesday, was $3.20-$2.50 today and easily most popular in front of Bigboyroy ($3.80).

BETS: Starla $3,000 @ $2.50, $2,000 @ $2.50 TWICE, $1,500 @ $2.50, $1,200 @ $2.50

BETS: Orcein $5,000 @ $4.80

BETS: Pinup Miss $1,000 @ $8

BETS: Bigboyroy $1,500 @ $4, $1,500 @ $3.80 TWICE

RACE SIX

Money told the tale in the TAB Venue Mode Handicap (1350 metres).

TAB customers crunched Handspun late in betting and the move paid dividends with Hugh Bowman getting the job done in a very tight finish.

The Godolphin runner was $5.50-$3.80 and ended up being a losing result for TAB. Lucicello ($2.40-$3.80) was a noted drifter while Word For Word ($4-$3.70) and Almerheri ($12-$21-$19) came in for late support.

BETS: Handspun $2,000 @ $3.80, $1,300 @ $4.40

BETS: Lucicello $1,500 @ $3.40, $3,000 @ $3, $3,000 @ $2.40

RACE SEVEN

Constant backing throughout the day for Stephan was on the money after it saluted in the Elderton Homes Made. You Look sprint (1100 metres).

The Gratz Vella runner was $11 on Wednesday and still that quote at 9am this morning, however, by the time the race rolled around just $7.50 was available.

It was the fourth best supported runner in terms of money held behind Invictus Salute ($2.80), Southern Lad ($5) and Junglized ($5).

BETS: Stephan $2,000 @ $8

BETS: Invictus Salute $3,000 @ $2.80, $4,000 @ $2.70, $3,000 @ $2.60

RACE EIGHT

It was a blowout result for punters in the eighth event on the card – the Schweppes Handicap (1200 metres).

The Party Girl ($21-$26) only had light support with most of the money here focused on the top two in the market in the shape of Burning Crown ($1.90) and Poetic Charmer ($3.80) who had nothing between them in terms of the hold.

BETS: Tony’s Reward $2,000 @ $19, $1,000 @ $18

BETS: Burning Crown $3,000 @ $2, $2,000 @ $1.90, $2,000 @ $1.85, $1,800 @ $1.85, $1,650 @ $1.85

BETS: Wildwood Jade $1,000 e/w @ $26/$4.60

BETS: Poetic Charmer $2,000 @ $3.80

RACE NINE

Punters went ‘all in’ on Outrageous in the final event on the card but unfortunately it went pear shaped for those taking the short quote.

The Rosehill Bowling Club Handicap (1400 metres) was dominated from a betting perspective by Outrageous ($2.30 fav) which commanded 62 percent of the total investment and was more than six times as popular as anything else.

Toryjoy ($8.50-$13) was drifter in betting but still had some specking at the eachway quote.

BETS: Outrageous $5,000 @ $2.30, $4,000 @ $2.30, $5,000 @ $2.25, $1,000 @ $2.25 MULTIPLE TIMES, $5,000 @ $2.10

PAKENHAM

RACE ONE

Star Surprise defied a big betting drift to win the opening event on the card at Pakenham.

The Mike Moroney-trained runner was $5.50 in the morning and blew out to $10 at the jump. Most of the money was with That Girl ($2.40-$3.30) which blew significantly in the final 10 minutes of betting.

BETS: Ponga $1,000 @ $6.50

BETS: That Girl $2,375 @ $3.20, $2,250 @ $3.20

RACE TWO

Eureka Street was pretty solid in the market for the Momentum Gaming BM70 Handicap (1600 metres).

The gelding went around as the third most popular runner and was around the $5-$5.50 mark for most of the day.

Write Your Name ($2.90-$4.40) blew out late but still held the most money while Cape Richards ($13-$6-$4.80-$5) was a big firmer after opening double figures on Wednesday.

BETS: Eureka Street $2,000 @ $5, $1,000 e/w @ $5/$2, $1,000 @ $5

BETS: Write Your Name $2,000 @ $3.40

BETS: Cape Richards $1,000 @ $5 TWICE

BETS: Honorable Mention $1,050 @ $17

RACE THREE

One of the best supported runners all day was Neighbourhood.

Going around in the Fulmen Park F&M BM78 Handicap (1400 metres) as a very popular $2.40 favourite, Neighbourhood ($2.70-$2.40) held 58 percent of the total investment on the race.

The Enver Jusufovic-trained galloper was nearly five times as popular as the second most popular runner in Jentico ($4-$4.80).

BETS: Neighbourhood $5,000 @ $2.40 TWICE, $4,500 @ $2.40, $4,000 @ $2.40, $2,000 @ $2.40, $1,000 @ $2.40 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE FOUR

Most of the money in this race was riding on Lynch Mob which was backed into favourite for the running of the Iron Jack Australian Lagers BM78 Handicap (2000 metres).

Opening the day at $4.60, sheer weight of support saw it jump a $3.80 favourite after it displaced Midas Prince at the top of the market.

Midas Prince was $4.20-$5 and the second most popular runner behind the fav. Annunciate ($6.50-$4.60) was a notable firmer after opening at $13 earlier in the week.

BETS: Midas Prince $1,000 @ $4.80

BETS: Lynch Mob $3,000 @ $3.60, $2,000 @ $3.60, $1,000 @ $3.60 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE FIVE

Future Score was an upset winner of the Hanson Handicap (1600 metres).

The Matt Cumani-trained runner didn’t have a great deal of support and went $13 to $16 but in fairness most of the field were drifters.

Odeon was heavily backed and one of the more popular runners on the program. Going around as a $2.70 favourite, Odeon held a tick over half the total investment on the race.

Thunder Cloud ($21-$14) trimmed up late.

BETS: Odeon $15,000 @ $2.90, $5,000 @ $2.70

BETS: Al Passem $1,000 @ $10

RACE SIX

Eachway punters were cheering after Snitzkraft proved superior in the Schweppes David Bourke Memorial Handicap (1200 metres).

TAB had the Phillip Stokes runner down as an $8.50 chance this morning after $10 was offered earlier in the week. Good money throughout the day saw him backed into $5. Such was the support for the five-year-old that he held more money than anything else.

Oberland ($11-$4.80) was the subject of strong money throughout the day and as a result he was a big firmer.

BETS: Snitzkraft $1,000 @ $6.50, $750 e/w @ $5/$1.85, $1,500 e/w @ $4.60/$1.75

BETS: Oberland $2,000 @ $5.50 TWICE

BETS: More Than Exceed $1,500 @ $4.60

Secret Blaze ($2.20) was a sustained go after opening $3.50 on Wednesday while there was a move in the morning for Chapada ($6-$4.60-$5.50) who got back out late.

BETS: Chapada $2,000 @ $5, $2,000 x $3,000 e/w @ $5/$1.85, $1,000 @ $4.60

RACE EIGHT

Favourite backers were cheering when Yulong January led throughout in the Racing.com VOBIS Gold Bullion (1400 metres).

Yulong January went around as the second best supported runner in terms of money held but was the $3.80 favourite. Only Widgee Turf ($4) held more money.
