The Mitty’s Handicap (1100 metres).
The money was spot on. Despite going for a late drift ($1.70-$2), Diamond Effort was clearly the one TAB customers wanted with the mare holding nearly 60 percent of the total investment.
Diamond Effort handled the straight the best and beat the leader Miss Norway ($10-$9) with Des Moines ($4.60-$3.90) close up in third who ran right up to the support that came for it.
Des Moines was the only one seriously tried to beat the favourite but held less than half the money the favourite did.

The Danny O’Brien-trained runner was the most popular horse in the race and accounted for nearly 40 percent of the market investment.
Sprinting sharply after getting a three-wide cart into the race, Damian Lane rode a confident race on the gelding as they beat the favourite Dabiyr ($2.90-$3.40) comfortably at the finish.

“YOU CAN’T QUANTIFY GUTS” – David Vandyke
The Queensland superstar, Alligator Blood, was very well-supported in betting before the jump, shortening from $3.10 to $2.50.
The talented gelding had all the answers again this time, dictating terms from the front after some early pressure and was far too strong.
