Geelong
$15 Win/$35 Place Minola R4 @ $10/$3.3 (Sportsbet)
$50 Win Ambush Alley R7 @ $3.7 (Sportsbet)
Geelong Overview:
No surprise to see good early support for Minola in the fourth, a Paul Preusker first starter. This Animal Kingdom filly had a jumput at Hamilton in late May and liked the way she moved in the straight under little pressure from the rider. On breeding, a wet track is a query, but she looked to handle it well enough in the jumpout and I think she’s worth something on each way. Ambush Alley is flying for Patrick Payne, with the gelding 3/3 since the blinkers went on, his last win seeing him bolt up at the track/distance in a 64. Goes to 70 grade, but every time the bar has been raised, he’s passed with flying colours, and he just looks well placed once again.
Moruya
$100 Win Sepulchre R2 @ $5 (Sportsbet)
Moruya Overview: She’s the bet of the day IMO. Joseph Ible trains this mare, who was a drifter in betting first up at the Sapphire Coast over 1400m but despite that lack of market support, she was outstanding in defeat in one of the runs of the meeting, charging home against the track pattern to run third. Hoping there is no second up drop off and instead she improves off it. If she does that, I think she’ll take a power of beating up in trip on a more suitable trip and Simon Miller is riding in really good form at the moment.
