Blake Shinn is one of the top fancies to take over as the rider of Winx in the Apollo Stakes for the suspended Hugh Bowman.
Online bookmaker sportsbet has posted the Melbourne Cup winning jockey as third pick on $4.40 to gain the nod over some of Sydney’s top jockeys. Premiership leader Brenton Avdulla is $2.50 and Glyn Schofield is $3.60 to ride the champion mare when she is scheduled to resume on February 17.
Winx will be chasing her 23rd straight win in the Apollo and is the $1.10 favourite. She is also $3.50 favourite to win and also become the first horse to win four consecutive Cox Plates, in October.
