Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan is lining up to take on Black Caviar again this weekend despite the mare slaughtering bookmakers in her record breaking unbeaten run.
Sullivan said Black Caviar was obviously going to be very hard to beat and a long odds on favourite again but he was happy to accommodate punters who wanted to back her again.
“We have dusted a fortune taking Black Caviar on and you thought we might have learned a lesson but we will be going again in the T.J. Smith Stakes this Saturday,†Sullivan said.
“This is her first time the Sydney way and it is quality field so I think she is worth risking at the odds.
“Punters placed well over $1.5m on Black Caviar at Sportingbet in the William Reid after we bet $1.15 about her and while I am not sure punters will see that price in Sydney, we will certainly be looking to lay her heavily again.â€
Sportingbet has posted Black Caviar at $1.06 in early markets but Sullivan said much would depend on the barrier draw.
“Black Caviar has been able to keep out of trouble at every start this preparation but if the 14 nominations all run, she might not have that luxury on Saturday,†he said.
“There looks to be plenty of speed in the race and depending on how they draw, this could well prove to be her biggest test.â€
