The feature race at Caulfield this Saturday is the Bletchingly Stakes (1200m), with a solid field assembled.

2025 Bletchingly Stakes Runner Preview:
1. Recommendation: Like him in the Monash two weeks ago and he ran well on speed, just feeling the pinch late. I think his chances depend on how much rain hits on Saturday. If the track has genuine give, I feel he’s right in the mix. If the rain misses, I say he struggles.
2. Kallos: Kallos resumed two weeks abck here in the Monash. He got back off speed and keot chasing but was never really threatening I thought behind In Flight. Fitter and up in trip, he can run an improved race at odds.
3. Baraqiel: Baraqiel is a Corstens/Larkin trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, and he does look a horse that has very good talent…potentially Group l talent, but it is a make or break prep. Jumpout work has been strong and he does have a touch of class on his side.
4. Inhibitions: Inhibitions comes through the Santa Ana Lane Final from three weeks ago at Flemington. She just found them a bit sharp but she stayed on and was really good in defeat I thought behind Marble Nine. Fitter, back to a bending track, she appeals.
5. Kin: Didn’t mind her effort in the Monash after getting back in the run. Winner of the Gai Waterhouse the start prior, she’s racing really well…just not sure she has the class/quality.
6. Yellow Sam: I dare say connections are having a throw at the stumps given it’s a Group race. Racing well, 1400m back to 1200m, she’ll be strong late…doubt she wins, but is a first four threat.
7. Apache Song: Did good things in the Autumn, highlighted by a third in the Australia Stakes. I dare say she has eyes on The Valley again and she can through to the keeper here.
8. New York Lustre: Thought she had every chance in the Monash over 1100m and that does leave me with doubts on her at 1200m at this level. Just not sure she runs it strongly.
9. Brital Waltz: She did win the Creswick Stakes but it was pretty much a barrier trial given she had complete control. Harder here and don’t think she has the class or quality.

Baraqiel and Recommondation look the main two speed influences. I dare say despite being first up, Baraqiel will want to hold the lead, but if Recommendation is intent on leading, Baraqiel will likely let it cross and lob outside. Bridal Waltz should lob handy despite a tricky gate.
