Gosford
$10 Win/$20 Place Flagpoles R1 @ $7.5 (Sportsbet), Place (Tote)
$20 Win Easy Eddie R5 @ $5 (Sportsbet)
$50 Win Skyray R7 @ $3.2 (Sportsbet)
Gosford Overview:
Flagpoles has won two of her six career outings and has shown a bit of promise as a stayer. Hasn’t raced since mid September when down the track at Warwick Farm behind stablemate and the Group l performed High Bridge. Closed off alright I thought in her trial and this race has no depth to it. Loved the way Easy Eddie toughed it out to win two back at Warwick Farm before racing on the Kensington track at Randwick where he looked a good thing on paper and he won accordingly under a confident steer from Robbie Dolan. Seems much better with a bit of give in the track but he’s very reliable on a firm surface. If Skyray produces his best, he should be too good for this lot. Really good effort two back at Warwick Farm when beaten narrowly by Gongs before racing on the Kensington track where he was back in an on pace dominated affair and he couldn’t come on behind Samadoubt. Good record at Gosford and this is clearly a drop in grade for him. Tommy back on a tick I think as well.
Pakenham
$50 Win Gennikay R3 (Tote)
$50 Win Tower Road R5 @ $4.8 (BetEasy)
Pakenham Overview:
Think there’s two standouts at Pakenham under the lights. Gennikay looks an above average filly for Phillip Stokes who hasn’t raced since resuming on Boxing Day at Morphettville when terribly away and throwing away her winning claims. Did a great job to get as close as she did. Clearly the horse to beat with a clean jump and love the booking of Regan Bayliss, who rides the track very well. Tower Road looks a really nice progressive horse and looks extremely hard to beat in the first leg of the quaddie. Debuted in what looked a deep maiden at Geelong and worked home really strongly when third to the well performed Goldifox. Clearly has more upside than most engaged, draws much better and Linda Meech remains on. Plenty of ticks.
