Sapphire Coast Overview:
Concede that the Danny Williams pair are hard to beat in the second but So Magnifique looks silly odds for mine. Mitch Beer trains this gelding, who is first up after a two run prep at Wagga when last in work and was hard in the market each time in strong maidens which have been good form references. Just seems overs and more than happy to have something on. The feature is the Bega Cup and I think Valeria Messalina can win it. Richard Laming trains this mare, who is over a month between runs since racing at Sale where she got back in the run and closed off okay without threatening behind Tranquil Miss, a track specialist. Was nominated for a few races this weekend but stable choose to run here. Been on the back of Biodynamic each run this prep and he finally rewarded my patience last time at Moruya, aided by a 12/10 steer. The Bar Plates (Hind) are off so I’m reading between the lines that the feet are in good order and he can go on with it.
$100 Win Angelic Ruler R7 (Tote)
This girl does look the good thing of the day. The Pearce stable trains this filly, who comes back to the 1400m after racing over the mile at Ascot last time where I thought she was a good thing on paper. Just think her racing pattern beat her when back and launching late but just dying on the run. Tumbles in weight, senior jock back on, good draw…normal luck and she should prove too good. Was hoping for $2/thereabouts, not the $1.50 opening price. Take the tote and you should get better.
