Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au reports a flood of support for Adelaide. The four-year-old has firmed from $9.00 into $7.50 behind easing $3.70 favourite Contributer.
“Adelaide is first-up over 2000m, but that doesn’t concern punters. All the support is coming for Adelaide and he holds more money than every other runner combined,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
There is plenty of action happening on a massive final day of The Championships:
• In the Australian Oaks punters cannot split Ballet Suite ($7.00) and Savaria ($9.00). Favourite Winx ($4.20) is only warm and Fenway ($5.50) is unwanted.
• Betting suggests Catkins ($4.80) can do the job and finally win a Group 1 in the Queen of The Turf Stakes. She is best backed, but only just ahead of Noble Protector ($3.50). Favourite First Seal ($3.30) is easy. Amanpour and Bonaria have admirers at $51.
• Punters have declared the Sydney Cup over. There has been more money for Hartnell ($2.25 favourite) than the rest of the field. Don Doremo ($34) has been tried at long odds.
