The ongoing takeover battle for PointsBet has intensified, with Betr officially opening its offer to shareholders while MIXI continues to strengthen its hold on the bookmaker.
On Monday, a series of statements to the Australian Stock Exchange outlined the latest developments, as Japanese-backed MIXI confirmed its stake in PointsBet had climbed beyond 33 per cent.
MIXI revealed it had purchased an additional 18.3 million shares in the past week. According to the Australian Financial Review, Easygo Holdings, the parent company of Stake.com, contributed its 5 per cent holding in support of the MIXI push.
The MIXI proposal, valuing PointsBet at $1.25 per share, is scheduled to close on August 25 and aims to secure majority control by surpassing the 50 per cent threshold.
However, rival corporate bookmaker Betr is determined to disrupt those ambitions. On the same day, Betr reissued its bidder statement and launched its own offer, presenting shareholders with 4.219 Betr shares for each PointsBet share held.
