Leading online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has refunded more than $150,000 to Australian punters who were stung and stunned when champion horse So You Think was beaten in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot overnight.
“We think it’s only fair to refund bets on So You Think to Aussie punters,†sportsbet.com.au’s Haydn Lane said.
“Absolutely nothing went right for him and given the way the race unfolded it was a mighty effort to stick on as well as he did.
“The loss was certainly a dent to Aussie pride, but hopefully this move will help numb the pain a little for those who backed him.â€
So You Think has eased from $2.50 out to $3.00 for the upcoming King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, while Rewilding, So You Think’s nemesis from the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, has firmed from $13 into $5.00.
So You Think has also drifted slightly from $3.50 to $4.00 for the Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe but remains the favourite.
The refund applies to all bets up to $100 on So You Think to win the 2011 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.
