2022 Manikato Stakes Race Horse Ratings
1. Bella Nipotina: To say this Group l win is deserved would be the understatement of the year. Gee she can’t be begrudged this triumph. Williams saved ground throughout and hugged the inside. She went through her gears on the turn and the margin flattered her rivals. She had panels on them.
Rating: 9/10
2. Rothfire: Ridden with more intent and the end result was a Manikato runner up prize. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a very strong kick but he just had no answers for the finale of Bella Nipotina. Credit to him for fending off Best Of Bordeaux.
Rating: 8.5/10
3. Best Of Bordeaux: Brave effort and his career post racing is well and truly sealed with a Group l placing here against the older horses. He sat outside Rothfire and loomed to win on the turn but just lacked the killer blow to put them away. But, still an excellent effort.
Rating: 8.5/10
4. September Run: She’s flying this girl. As expected, was back near last in the run and never really a factor but liked the way she warmed to the task late in the piece for fourth in the worst ground. Bursting to win another Group l.
Rating: 7.5/10
5. Eleven Eleven: He got into a decent spot behind the main pack. Just lost sight of the bunny when they sprinted but he picked up and actually wasn’t too bad in defeat for a first up run. He’s on track.
Rating: 6.5/10
6. The Astrologist: Half missed the kick and then dug up to get three wide with cover. Loomed as some sort of threat on the turn but the early dig up to find a spot just told late, but far from disgraced.
Rating: 6/10
7. Behemoth: Snagged back from the wide gate and was never really a factor, but he actually found the line pretty well all things equal and perhaps is on track for something easier.
Rating: 6/10
8. Paulele: Given the market expectation, he was terrible, and there is enough body of work now to suggest that at this level, he’s a pretender and not up to them. Given every chance by J Mac and failed to fire.
Rarting: 0/10
9. Streets Of Avalon: He didn’t want the track to be genuinely rain affected and unfortunately for him, it was, and that sealed his fate.
Rating: 1/10
10. Savatoxl: Worked from the wide gate eventually sitting wide no cover. He was under pressure from the outset and was a beaten horse before the turn. Not good enough at this level.
Rating: 1/10
