Zougotcha was a dominant winner of the Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday, claiming the fourth and final leg of the Sydney Princess Series in a great display on testing ground.

1.Zougotcha: Had the beaut run behind the speed but got a tad keen. That still, she was still moving smoothly and once J Mac gave the filly clear air towards the inside, gee she went through her gears like a good horse and was dominant.
Rating: 9/10
2.She’s Extreme: She was brave. Had the 1/1 sit and presented to win the race. There to win but had no answers for the brilliance of Zougotcha. Excelletn in running second.

3.North Star Lass: Lovely front running ride from Tim Clark. She got control away from Pavitra and he couldn’t have ridden his filly any better to give her every chance to run the mile out. Stuck on for third, that is as good as she goes.

4.Fireburn: Not exactly sure what to make of the run. I don’t think the race was set up for her to launch given North Star Lass racked them mid race. Realistically, she did a very good job to run fourth I thought. But, the Slipper curse…is it real? With this girl, at the moment…yes.

5.Pavitra: Ran her race in patches. Got keen early when wanting to lead but had to settle for the spot outside North Star Lass. Lacked the change up speed whe they sprinted, but the last 50m and through the line, she was very good for a filly that I think will be better at 2000m.

6.Madame Pommery: Didn’t run the mile out. She had every chance under Bowman and was there to threaten but she just didn’t run the 1600m out.

7.Renaissance Woman: She is the Oaks pony. Outstanding effort given the race shape was clearly not to her liking but loved the way she found the line and she is right on track for 2000m+. Lovely run, again.

8.Wolverine: Similar to Fireburn, not entirely sure she was suited by the race shape. That said, I was expecting her find the line much better and jury is out on her IMO.
Rarting: 3/10
9.Byron Belle: Back in a slowly run race and for a filly wanting 2000m+, she was zero hope. Outclassed but I wouldn’t be penning her.

10.Whisker To Whisker: Market said she would do little and that is how it eventuated. But again, not suited by race shape. Drop her back to a maiden and she’d be a moral.
