Roch N Horse produced another shock down the Flemington straight, following up her Newmarket win in the Autumn by proving herself at WFA at Flemington on Saturday, taking out the Champions Sprint (1200m), lowering the colours of Nature Strip.

Read on for the 2022 Champions Sprint Post Race Horse Ratings.

2022 Champions Sprint Replay

2022 Champions Sprint Race Horse Ratings

1. Roch N Horse: Got a beautiful sit behind the speed, got clear air at the right time and drove hard late to win. Ripping ride from an underestimated horse.

Rating: 9/10

2. Nature Strip: Looked a tired horse late, as well as he ran. But he looked tired. Did a remarkable job to stick on like he did, but the busy workload for the year has caught up.

Rating: 8.5/10

3. Baller: Can make a small case to say he wins with a clear path. Just got held up at the wrong stage but drove hard late to run third, continuing what has been a fab prep.

Rating: 8.5/10

4. Levante: Got clear air from the outset and presented to win the race when led down but first up in a truly run race, condition just found her out late, but the run was excellent.

Rating: 8/10

5. Giga Kick: I think you can make a case that he wins if he does everything right. Just wanted to lay in under pressure at the wrong times and that cost him IMO. He’s a star and look out next year.

Rating: 7.5/10

6. The Astrologist: Continued his love affair with the straight course. He was game as ever and only really knocked up the final 50m or so. So genuine, he’ll be around the mark whenever he races down the straight.

Rating: 6/10

7. Lofty Strike: He’s the 3YO Newmarket horse next year. Too much too soon but he ran a very credible race and was the best of those from the inside pack. Give him another prep under the belt, he’s going to be very good.

Rating: 6/10

8. Rothfire: Led Nature Strip, which isn’t an easy task. Most spit the dummy out but he actually toughed it out pretty well and was only beaten a couple of lengths.

Rarting: 5/10

9. Bella Nipotina: Gee she looked to be trucking and for mine was the winner 300m out but she just didn’t ping on the firm deck and ground away late. Better suited on wet ground.

Rating: 4/10

10. Front Page: Poorly placed but he ran a credible race. Led the inside section and gave a solid kick but he’s not a Group l WFA horse and that just told late. Back in grade, he can win races.

Rating: 3/10

11. Paulele: He needs to find a soft Group l aka Winterbottom or Goodwood. He’s not up to this level of horse and was found out, yet again.

Rating: 1/10

12. Argentia: Probably just didn’t handle the seven day back up. Quickly beaten off but she was okay to the line. But she’s not up to these.

Rating: 2/10

13. Masked Crusader: Been calling him a pretender for a couple of years now and enough of a sample size is there to prove me right. He’s just no good.

Rating: 0/10

14. The Inferno: If he’s going to find a win in Australia, it won’t be in Melbourne or Sydney, unless he finds a Listed/Group lll race.

Rating: 0/10
