Champion mare Winx will headline the 2016 Cox Plate Field
View the Final Field for the 2016 Cox Plate. The Cox Plate will be run on Saturday 22th October at Moonee Valley racecourse with the rail in the true position.
The Cox Plate field will have 10 horses with 8 of those horses being Group 1 winners, Happy Clapper and Awesome Rock being the horses who are yet to win a G1.
The field will be headlined by the clash of Champion mare Winx and emerging star Hartnell.

Scratchings:
There have been no scratchings to the Cox Plate Final Field with ten horses set to jump at 5pm.
Winx vs Hartnell:
The pair have raced each other three times with Winx having the wood over Hartnell beating him on each of those occasions including a Cox Plate win last year.
Tempo: On paper there doesn’t look to be any clear cut leaders in the race however trainer Troy Corsten’s has outlined that Awesome Rock will likely lead the race unless Vadamos heads to the front. With this knowledge it is highly likely one of those two will lead in the Cox Plate.
Barrier Draw:
Winx had the second pick of barriers and will jump from barrier 3 whilst her main rival on paper Hartnell had a later pick and will jump from barrier 7.
Market Movers:
Since markets opened Winx has been by far the best backed runner in the race, bookies opened her at $2.10 and she has been crunched into $1.80 and likely to start shorter come race time. Hartnell has had good support but has drifted slightly to $3.40 with the only other runner who has had specking being Lucia Valentina who is $21 into $18.
