Race 1. (12:10) Arrowfield Kirkham 3yo Plate 1000m
6 Royal Accord (Bet Now: $2.90) is a standout for me. Team Hawkes trained colt that is 2/2 at the trials, the latest at Warwick Farm when leading throughout and looked to have plenty in hand. Looks a really good mover and think he’ll make a winning debut.
13 Rosarito (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Bivouac filly for Ciaron Maher that debuts off the back of a sharp trial win at Warwick Farm where she did a bit wrong but moved like a nice horse. I think she’s well and truly here to play.
12 Jenni In Rome (Bet Now: $4.80) is a Sword Of State filly for Michael Freedman that debuts off the back of an electric trial win at Warwick Farm before trialling on Monday at Rosehill where she ran fifth but looked to go about her business nicely. She’s a definite market/yard watch.
Race 2. (12:45) Tab Highway Hcp 1600m
4 Bluish Hue (Bet Now: $2.75) is hard to beat, like he was when a winner a few weeks ago in the Highway, sitting in a plum spot off speed before getting clear air and he knuckled down with purpose late to score. He can go on with it.
7 Ocean Tsunami (Bet Now: $3.30) was unlucky when resuming in the Highway at Rosehill two weeks ago. She got into a good spot in transit just off speed but when it came to getting clear air, it just didn’t eventuate and it ended up being an ugly watch. Bigger track, fitter, I think she’ll run very well.
2 Olympian (Bet Now: $5.00) steps up to the mile after resuming over 1300m at Newcastle where he was a heavily backed favourite but did seemingly have his chance I thought when third to Caltsar. Fitter and up in trip, his best is good enough to be dangerous.
Race 3. (13:20) Midway (Bm72) Hcp 1200m
17 Master Yoda (Bet Now: $16.00) wasn’t really there to play when resuming at Hawkesbury. He got back, cut to the inside, worst ground, and did make up ground but was never a threat. Had trialled super prior, I think he’s in the mix.
7 Scintilla (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Les Bridge trained mare that is first up. She hasn’t raced since June 24 when midfield at Warwick Farm. Hit and miss since her 3YO days but her trial work has been pretty good and her best is clearly good enough to give this a shake.
4 Zaragoza (Bet Now: $67.00) was a total forgive at Moruya last start. He was back near last, stayed nearer the inside (quicksand) and was just fair late but the run was full of merit. Better luck this time around, he’s very dangerous.
Race 4. (14:00) Alm On-Premise Brian Crowley Stakes (L) 1200m
1 Crescent King (Bet Now: $3.20) is a nice horse for Peter Snowden. Let down well to win fresh at Canterbury before going to Warwick Farm where he got better as the race went on to score. Good test but he looks a horse on the up. Keen to see how he goes.
2 Punxsatawney Phil (Bet Now: $4.20) is unbeaten in three runs and commands respect. He didn’t beat much on the Kenso last time but he led throughout, copped heat and was strong to the line. Good racing style, he’s a leading contender.
5 Ciaron’s Star (Bet Now: $2.80) steps up to 1200m after resuming over 1100m in the Heritage when off speed and tried hard but was simply no match for Everest contender Blue Door. Fitter, tick over trial was excellent, she appeals big time.
Race 5. (14:40) Myplates Callander-Presnell (G3) 1600m
5 Omolong (Bet Now: $6.00) looks a nice colt and should love getting to the mile. He ran over 1400m two weeks ago in the Tapp-Craig and worked home strongly from off speed when second. He’s got good upside to come and rising to the mile, he’s one of the hardest to beat.
1 Diameter (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat. He was an eye catcher in the Caulfield Guineas, getting a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. He will love getting onto a bigger track, he’s a key chance.
7 Gridlock (Bet Now: $12.00) is heading in the right direction for Michael Freedman. He has gone 2/2 this time in, the latest at Kembla two weeks back when giving his rivals a start and a beating to score. Good test up to the mile but hard to knock the way he’s going.
Race 6. (15:20) Asahi Super Dry Craven Plate (G2) 1800m
1 Lindermann (Bet Now: $2.35)…D Day for him. On face value, he had every chance in the Hill Stakes, but in hindsight, I think Nash went too slow on him and was left a sitting shot for a horse with a better turn of foot, Attrition, to nail him. He gets complete front end control here, no depth, he wins.
2 Tom Kitten (Bet Now: $3.50) was quite good in the Epsom when off speed and kept chasing when third to God’s Window. Hard fit, rising to 1800m, small field, he has the class to give this an almighty shake.
4 Kovalica (Bet Now: $26.00) is racing well I feel. Numerically, it doesn’t say he’s racing well, but the race sectionals suggest otherwise. Never a threat in the Hill Stakes but kept chasing. He is bursting to win a race…is this within reach? I say yes.
Race 7. (16:00) Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes (G1) 2000m
I have been hot on 2 Cormier (Bet Now: $9.50) for this race for several weeks and won’t be dropping off. I thought he was a total forgive in the Gloaming. Yes, he led and walked in front, but I just don’t think he’s a leader and was left a sitting shot. I think 2000m suits, hopefully gets a bunny to chase and will be strong late.
8 Global Goal (Bet Now: $2.90) has the potential to blow this field away. Just a matter of the set up, whether this is the Grand Final or the Oaks. her Flight Stakes win was superb. She gave them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to score. 2000m no issue, weight pull, clearly hard to beat. Just from a betting angle…is she on the short side?
5 Stormy Marco (Bet Now: $7.50) is on track. He ran two weeks back in the Gloaming and kept chasing from off speed in a good effort in defeat. He should appreciate getting to 2000m and does have that Waller sense of timing to give this a shake.
Race 8. (16:45) The Invitation (G2) 1400m
3 Verona Rose (Bet Now: $7.00) is humming for Gary Portelli. She has been outstanding this time in, the latest being a few weeks ago in the Golden Pendant when closing with real purpose late when second to Lazzura. Hard fit, can settle closer, she takes a power of beating.
11 Arabian Rose (Bet Now: $19.00) is a key chance. She resumed in The Nivison where she looked the winner when Tommy Berry pushed the button but first up, condition just gave out and she was pipped on the peg. Fitter, 1400m, bigger track, she takes beating.
5 Infancy (Bet Now: $31.00) has been given a mini freshen up since the Tibbie at Newcastle where she was quite good from off speed behind impressive winner Perfumist. Tick over trial was sharp and her best is clearly good enough to give this a shake.
Race 9. (17:30) Five Diamonds 5yo Prelude 1500m
Weights aren’t everything, but 54kg for 12 Declichy Boulevard (Bet Now: $3.40)…gee she looks thrown in. Smashed the clock two back when winning. She then went to the Epsom and had little luck in the straight. 54kg, has returned super, racing well…she is the one.
1 Linebacker (Bet Now: $3.60) is humming. Race shape and clear air was against him in the Alan Brown two weeks ago but loved the way he kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. Hard fit, class edge, room to move, Randwick…very hard to beat.
8 Brave One (Bet Now: $16.00) was sneaky good in the Alan Brown. He got a fair way back and while he was never a winning threat, he made up decent headway and was a sneaky eye catcher late in the piece. If he can be within range, he’s a threat at odds.
Race 10. (18:05) Robrick Lodge Filante Hcp 1600m
5 Lord Penman (Bet Now: $9.00) in the get out. He resumed in the Weekend Hussler where he was back in a slowly run race and was never a factor behind Persian Spirit. Fitter and up in trip, maps to settle closer, he takes beating against these.
6 Encap (Bet Now: $13.00) ran in the Epsom three weeks back. He got back off speed and did make up some headway but was never really threatening. He is a hard horse to catch but at this level, despite him being the enigma he is, he’s dangerous.
3 Osipenko (Bet Now: $10.00) should appreciate getting a rise in trip. He resumed in the Alan Brown where he got back to near last in the run and was solid late without threatening behind Formal Display. Good upside to come and rising in trip, he’s in the mix.
