The Silver Eagle (1300m) shapes as an intriguing contest at Randwick, with Beiwacht expected to control the tempo from barrier one and Skyhook likely to settle close by.
Platinum Pantheon is the top selection after an unlucky run here a fortnight ago, with softer ground suitable and clear running the key to his chances.
Beiwacht looks better suited stepping back up in distance, while Skyhook commands respect following his dominant Shannon Stakes victory.
Within The Law can threaten late first up following encouraging trials, while Plaintiff is an improver at odds after holding her own in the Premiere Stakes.
2026 Silver Eagle Runner Preview:
1. Beiwacht: Back to 1200m was against in the Manikato and he ran accordingly. Much better set up here, has class on his side, he’s going to take running down.
2. Attica: Got too keen with the Blinkers in the Epsom. Has them still on and back to 1300m…not a great set up for him and he goes through to the keeper for me.
3. Skyhook: Skyhook is three weeks between runs since taking out the Shannon at Rosehill, getting complete front end control and he gave nothing else a look in to win comfortably. Back in trip should be fine, good racing style, handles all conditions…clearly hard to beat.
4. Brave Monarch: Thought he was brave in The Weetwood. Talented…just not quite sure he is up to this level.
5. Rivellino: Handy horse when right but suspect he’s better suited in something easier.
6. Roulette King: Prepped right up to be fit for a first up showing…just think 1300m is on the short side for him.
7. Apocalyptic: She has looked cast all prep.
8. Decorum: He’s come back a better horse this time in but he has been well placed at the same time. Different gravy here and for mine, I think he is very well found.
9. Platinum Pantheon: Platinum Pantheon…I’m still not sure I am over the loss from him two weeks ago here. No sugar coating, Zac Lloyd slaughtered the horse and IMO he should have won comfortably. He trialled super in NZ prior, toe in the ground is fine, strong late…I think he runs a beauty.
10. Night Agent: He got the all time ride from J Mac last start and bolted in. Harder here, tricky draw, he’s not up to it here for mine.
11. Andrew: Live near Taree so would love to see this guy run well. But on form, he’s a deserved $251 chance.
12. Within The Law: Within The Law is first up for Bjorn Baker. Her last run was the Winx Guineas at the Sunny Coast where it was simply one run too many and she was a tired horse. Spelled, trialled well, watch betting because she can motor late.
13. Plaintiff: Thrown in the deep end in the Premiere and didn’t disgrace herself. She is an improver at odds.
14. Wootton Lass: Sneaky good late behind Annie’s Rose but is outclassed.

Beiwacht should get front end control from the gate and lead comfortably. Skyhook should lob into a beaut spot, likely sitting outside him. Beyond that pair, I can’t see much early front end pressure.
