Racing fans will have the opportunity to buy into Group 1 winner Private Eye, with an unreserved 10 per cent share in the veteran gelding to be offered through the latest Magic Millions Digital online sale.
The Joe Pride-trained nine-year-old has earned $12.99 million in prizemoney during his career and returned this campaign with a runner-up finish in the PB Lawrence Stakes in Melbourne.
Private Eye is expected to have his next start in either next week’s Group 2 Tramway Stakes or the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes in Sydney a week later.
His upcoming racing commitments have resulted in a shortened auction period for the City Tattersalls Club’s 10 per cent holding, with bidding to open on Friday and close at 12pm AEST on Monday.
That is two days earlier than the remainder of the horses entered in the Magic Millions Digital sale, which runs from August 28 to September 2.
The City Tattersalls Club has been placed into administration, resulting in its ownership interest in Private Eye being put up for sale.
Closing the auction early will provide enough time for the successful bidder’s ownership details to be registered and included in the racebook ahead of Private Eye’s next appearance.
The upcoming online catalogue will also feature seven horses offered by Godolphin, marking the first time the global racing and breeding operation has used the Magic Millions Digital platform.
Another notable offering is a two per cent share in The Kosciuszko favourite So You Pence, who is trained by Matt Dale for Kurrinda Bloodstock.
Arrowfield Stud will also offer nine broodmares through the sale.
The complete Magic Millions Digital catalogue is scheduled to be released on Friday.
