Race 1. (11:00) Midway (Bm72) 1300m
2 Cold Brew (Bet Now: $5.50) should appreciate getting to 1300m. He resumed over 1100m here four weeks ago in a sit/sprint and was good late without threatening in a definite pass mark return I thought. Rising to 1300m, can settle closer, he appeals.
1 Mafia (Bet Now: $8.50) should land on speed and take beating, as seen at Canterbury, leading and he gave a bold sight but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Perfect Picture. Should land in front and give a good account.
14 She Swings (Bet Now: $5.50) was a total forgive from the Midway two weeks back here. She was back near last in a very slowly run race, won by Smashing Time, and was never really a factor. More genuine tempo here, she can run a much improved race.
Race 2. (11:35) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1500m
7 Red Rags To Bulls (Bet Now: $4.00) is absolutely bursting to win a Highway and I think she gets a golden opportunity here. She goes close to winning here two weeks ago if she gets clear air but nothing went right for her and it was an ugly watch. If the breaks go her way, she can launch late over the top.
12 Saintly Sands (Bet Now: $6.00) is absolutely flying for Rod Northam and commands respect. She has won her past two, spanking them at Warren two back before proving that was no fluke at Scone when ridden with intent and making a mess of them. Good test here but confident she can measure up.
19 Bonus Tempus (Bet Now: $23.00) is a horse I was keen on in the Highway two weeks back at a big price and he ran a beauty, closing well from off speed when fourth. Not sure if 1500m is his go, may want shorter, but he has to be included in exotics.
Race 3. (12:10) Kia Ora Bloodlines To Headlines (Bm72) 1100m
9 Gorgeous (Bet Now: $3.20) has the talent to be a good horse. But, the head she has got…the brain is small. She has no idea what she is doing and I think it has cost her pretty much all prep. Some say she is overrated…nah. She is talented. Just needs to put it together mentally.
1 Stormland (Bet Now: $17.00) is a son of Hello Youmzain that is first up. His last run came on Feb 21 over 1100m when off speed and made up headway in a decent effort behind Signor Tortoni. He does race well on the fresh side and looks to have trialled well for the return.
2 Albany Road (Bet Now: $26.00) is a GaiBott trained three year old that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Feb 20 at Canterbury when down the track behind True To Form in what was an end of prep run. Trialled well for the return, he commands respect.
Race 4. (12:45) Irresistible Pools And Spas (Bm72) 1400m
6 Tarzing (Bet Now: $3.40) resumed two weeks ago at this track/distance and I think you can easily make a case that he wins with clear air. Instead, he was badly held up and it ended up being an ugly watch when a luckless third. If the breaks go his way here, he can take this out.
5 Big Papa (Bet Now: $2.50) steps up to 1400m after a win over 1300m here two weeks ago, sitting on speed and with the lightweight, was too good for them. 1400m should be fine and despite the rise in weights, commands respect.
2 Damien (Bet Now: $19.00) has found positive form and commands respect. He tried hard two weeks back at this track/distance but was no match late for Surf’s Up. Has been hit and miss this prep but with his best, he’s dangerous.
Race 5. (13:20) Find Your Eternal Warrior @ The Chase (Bm78) 1400m
1 Surf’s Up (Bet Now: $2.70) has found winning form and she can go on with it. She was a dominant winner here two weeks ago, being able to settle closer and was trucking before being clicked up and away she went. Maps to stalk the speed and with clear running, I think she’ll be too good.
9 Bella Corazon (Bet Now: $7.50) has found winning form and she can go on with it. She won two weeks ago here, getting the peach sit in behind and finished best to score. Good upside/improvement to come, she takes beating against these.
2 Flying Embers (Bet Now: $15.00) ran third a few weeks back at Randwick in a Midway. She got off speed and closed with purpose in the straight. If she can get luck from the tricky draw, she’s dangerous.
Race 6. (13:55) Stayers Cup (Bm90) 2400m
5 Sounds Unusual (Bet Now: $16.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1800m at Randwick where he was quite good against the pattern, working home well out wide. Should love getting to 2400m and has good upside/improvement vs most.
9 King Pedro (Bet Now: $2.00) should take beating after his run two weeks ago here, driving hard after getting held up and just missed when beaten a lip by Nobler. Like the rise to 2400m and with good upside to come, he clearly appeals.
2 Black Run (Bet Now: $11.00) ran second in the QEll Cup a fortnight back at this track/distance, attempting to lead throughout and tried hard but had no answers late for Thebudgiesmugla. He should find the top, front end control, he’s a clear threat.
Race 7. (14:35) Rosehill Bowling Club (Bm78) 2000m
5 Golden Century (Bet Now: $7.50) was sneaky good when resuming over 1500m here two weeks ago. He was a big price in betting and while he was never a winning threat, I really did like the way he finished his race off. Fitter and up in trip, he only runs well.
3 Inquiring Minds (Bet Now: $21.00) steps up to 1800m after racing over 1500m two weeks ago here, sitting just off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Emirate. Like the rise in trip and has good upside to come.
10 Sacrify (Bet Now: $13.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance when near the speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late behind Sounds Unusual. Maps ideally from the inside draw and should be around the mark.
Race 8. (15:15) W J Mckell Cup (L) 1800m
I’ll back in the class of 1 Golden Path (Bet Now: $6.50). He ran over 1800m in the Lord Mayors at Eagle Farm last start when leading and he gave a decent sight from the front but just felt the pinch late behind Athanatos. 2000m, front end control and will take running down.
4 God’s Window (Bet Now: $2.60) takes beating. He just missed three weeks ago at Randwick, driving hard from off speed and just couldn’t quite get the win when beaten a lip by Formal Display. Tick over trial was strong and 2000m is ideal.
11 Tavros (Bet Now: $11.00) was somewhat assisted by the bias but he was sneaky good last Saturday at Randwick, working home strongly nearer the inside behind Tazima. Like the rise to 2000m, can settle closer and will be strong late.
Race 9. (15:50) Schweppes (Bm78) 1200m
16 Stagnum (Bet Now: $9.00) looks a nice horse for Team Hawkes that resumes. One and done last prep, giving them a start and a beating to win on the Kenso. Looks to have trialled well and with luck from the gate, takes beating.
14 Sanctified (Bet Now: $3.20) comes back to 1200m after racing two weeks ago over 1300m here, sitting just off speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Like him back to 1200m, he should be around the mark.
10 Snack Bar (Bet Now: $12.00)…gee he is a frustrating horse. Wet track brought him undone fresh before racing here two weeks back when last. Tongue Tie goes on, so maybe an excuse? His best is clearly good enough.
Race 10. (16:30) Petaluma (Bm88) 1500m
10 Mr Chaplin (Bet Now: $5.00) steps up to 1500m after a first up win over 1400m at Randwick three weeks ago, finishing best from off speed to score and score well. Good upside to come and rising to 1500m, he’s one of the hardest to beat.
14 Emirate (Bet Now: $9.00) was somewhat of a surprise winner here two weeks ago but the win had merit because he was absolutely jogging in the run. Just a matter of getting clear air and once he got it, he exploded and was impressive. Can he go on with it?
1 Elliptical (Bet Now: $61.00) had been trialling super to my eye before a return behind Cool Jakey three weeks back at Randwick and he confirmed what I saw in the trials. He’s returned super, closing with purpose from the back. Doubt he wins but is a must for exotics.
