Racing NSW has confirmed that licensed stablehand Sarah Kellermeier has been the subject of a stewards’ inquiry after comments made on social media were found to be improper and prejudicial to the reputation of the racing industry.
The investigation began on 22 October 2025, following a complaint regarding comments posted on the Facebook page ‘Australian Horse Racing’. It was determined that a Facebook account under the name ‘Sarah Kellermeier’ had made remarks in discussions relating to the disqualification of licensed jockey James Innes Jnr.
Racing NSW Integrity officials established that the account belonged to Miss Kellermeier, who is an active registered stablehand. During the interactions online, Miss Kellermeier made follow-up comments which stewards deemed to be prejudicial to the image, interests, integrity and welfare of racing.
According to Racing NSW, Miss Kellermeier’s Facebook profile lists her employment within the racing industry and is visible to the public. She has approximately 1000 Facebook contacts, including both industry participants and members of the general public.
On 23 October 2025, Miss Kellermeier was interviewed by Racing NSW Investigator Ms Anna Tabet. Following the interview, she was issued a directive to provide evidence supporting her claim that her Facebook account had been compromised.
Miss Kellermeier was later directed to attend a stewards’ inquiry on 5 November 2025 to address the alleged conduct. However, she failed to attend the hearing as directed. A brief of evidence compiled by Ms Tabet was tendered in her absence and the inquiry was adjourned.
Stewards subsequently issued three charges against Miss Kellermeier and directed her to attend a further hearing on 7 November 2025. She again failed to appear, and the inquiry proceeded ex parte, with the matter heard and determined in her absence.
Further updates regarding penalties and final determinations are expected to be released by Racing NSW in due course.
