Australian contenders have experienced a mixed bag of results in the barrier draw for Saturday’s first-ever NZB Kiwi.
The lucrative three-year-old slot race will see Lindsay Park’s Evaporate, the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Public Attention, and Bjorn Baker’s Perfumist take on New Zealand’s best for a share of the NZ$3.5 million prize pool.
Race favourite Evaporate, currently priced at $2.50 with betting sites in Australia, will have to overcome barrier 10 with Mick Dee in the saddle, while Public Attention faces an even tougher challenge, drawing barrier 14 with Wiremu Pinn aboard.
Bjorn Baker received better luck with Perfumist’s draw, landing barrier two, with Ashley Morgan set to ride.
Meanwhile, top Victorian jockey Blake Shinn will also travel across the Tasman for the event, taking the reins on Karaka Millions 3YO champion Damask Rose.
