14/12/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, The Gold Rush day

2 King Hit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since contesting the WA Guineas where he chased the speed and just couldn’t sustain the run, tiring to finish down the track. If there is petrol left in the tank, he’s hard to beat against these.

7 Earthstorm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is still a maiden but she is a filly with an engine under the hood. She ran two weeks ago in the Lee Steere where she got back to last and worked home well when a close up fourth. If she is within range, she has the finale to take this out.

6 Ranyx (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one to be entertained in exotics. He was brave at Pinjarra last start, sitting wide no cover throughout but he kept on and was quite good in defeat. Not sure he wins, but he can run top four.

3 Bopping Blue (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited back to 1000m after racing over 1200m two weeks ago when on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through behind Generosity. Back to 1000m, good racing style and hard fit, he is one of the leading contenders.

1 Final Siren (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Michael Lane used to have this guy but he now finds himself with Rebecca Bayliss. He did nice things as a three year old and despite the stable change, he looks to have lost no ability based on recent trial work.

4 Lexington City (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the watch horse. Formerly with Simon Miller but now is under the care of Michael Lane. He is a short course specialist and does appear suited in a race like this. Stable can get them ready to fire fresh so watch the market and see what it does.

6 Keep Attacking (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. He ran over this track/distance three weeks ago where he got off speed and worked home strongly, just missing out on the win behind Miss Flirtacious. Maps ideally, strong late…the one to beat.

3 Twain’s Angel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over 1000m here last Saturday when off the speed and chasing, being hood in defeat behind Devine Belief. Fitter and back up in trip, she appeals.

7 Miss Flirtacious (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m in the Jungle Dawn two weeks back where she got off speed and tried hard but just didn’t quite measure up. Back to benchmark grade and back to 1200m, she can run an improved race.

1 Devoted (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on his side and I’ll bank on that class getting him home. Three weeks between runs since contesting the Carbine Club when back and closing strongly in defeat to finish third. Has to carry the weight but with class, better for the run, he is the one to beat.

3 The Boss Lady (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a last start Stakes winner and appeals. She won the Jungle Dawn a fortnight back, appreciating the genuine tempo and finished best to win and win well. One of the leading chances.

6 Sisu Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Williams trained galloper that is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when back and failed to make up any real headway. Fitter, can settle closer, dangerous at odds.

6 Central Force (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He ran two weeks ago at this track/distance when back off the genuine tempo and unwound a strong finale, just failing to get there. If he can settle closer and be within range, he’ll take holding out.

5 Stormageddon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was good in defeat in the race mentioned above. He got back to near last in the run and appreciated the tempo, working home well and clocking good late splits. He has the finale to be quite dangerous.

3 Five Down (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race if he can harness his energy better. He ran over this track/distance two weeks back when going quite hard in front and he had nothing left for the straight, finishing down the track. Dangerous if he can harness his energy.

4 Madame Magic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. She ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where she got a fair way out of her ground and worked home well without threatening, though was only beaten under three lengths by Miss Skyhigh. If she can get a drag into the race and be within range, she’ll take beating.

9 El Patron (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned well and does have a liking for this track/distance, he ran at Belmont where he got a nice run just off the speed and presented to win but couldn’t quite get there. Good upside and should be around the mark.

2 Blue Lagoon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Susan Olive since racing at this track/distance when off speed and chasing but was just a bit on the one paced side. Tricky draw, but with a drag into the race, he’s dangerous at odds.

7 Bonjoy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks one of the better bets on the card. This mare resumed two weeks ago in the Jungle Dawn and was one of the better runs of the meeting, closing off with real purpose behind The Boss Lady. Fitter and up to 1600m, maps perfect…good luck beating her I say.

2 Yonga Lass (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Williams since contesting the Carbine Club where she was very plain after getting every chance and I just don’t think she handled the back up. She has class and that will carry her a long way.

3 Rusty Dreams (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and looks ready to show something here. She comes through the Jungle Dawn where she got off speed and worked home well enough in defeat. Tricky draw but commands respect.

7 Ripcord (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a great each way speck for mine. Luke Fernie sent him to Melbourne for the Spring and ran okay without properly measuring up, but has been kept on ice with this race in mind and his tick over trial was very sharp. He’ll get a drag into the race and launch at them late.

8 Magnificent Andy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the map horse and is racing well at present. He comes through the Railway where he got into a decent spot and ran very good in defeat behind Socks Nation…sorry Port Lockroy. Back to 1400m, kind map…he’ll take beating.

16 Wind And The Lion (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the three year old and fresh blood, which has dominated The Pinnacles. He ran in the Lee Steere two weeks back and kept finding the line in defeat in a good effort. He will do no work from the inside gate and be strong at the end.

8 Atlantis Beach (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned very well. He resumed over this trip at Pinjarra where he gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish best in a great return. If he can naturally build off that, he’ll run a beauty against these.

6 Sowar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1500m after racing over 1800m a fortnight back here he got into a decent spot in transit and looked all over a winner but found one better in Royal Toronado. Back in trip is fine and he’s found positive form.

11 Noteworthy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran third to Atlantis Beach at Pinjarra. She got back to near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she kept finding the line and clocked good late splits. She has the finale to take this out if she doesn’t get too far back.

NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 6 Keep Attacking

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 7 Ripcord
