13 Mad Darcey (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a David Pfieffer trained mare that has come back in career best form. 2/3 this time in, the latest being a fortnight back at Randwick in the Midway where she lobbed into a beaut spot under Ford before angling clear and she let down with purpose to win and win well. 1200m should be fine and hard to knock the way she has returned.

16 Field Wiri (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing like a rise to 1200m suits. Team Freedman trains this mare, who has run over 1100m her past two, the latest being two weeks back in the Midway at Randwick where she lacked the change up speed to go with them when she needed to but she picked up and was quite good late in the piece behind Mad Darcey. Dangerous if she can settle closer.

1 Black Duke (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since winning a Midway over 1350m here. He got into a lovely spot off the speed before angling clear and knuckled down strongly the last 200m to win and win well. Fresh legs and back to 1200m, ideal map, he’ll be around the mark.

8 Wymark (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very progressive three year old for Michael Freedman. He beat nothing at Newcastle last time but the arrogance of the win and how far he won by, it was impressive. That is two wins on the bounce and with eyes potentially on the Derby, I wouldn’t be dismissing him for that race and is one of the hardest to beat here.

2 Dasho Lennie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a nice horse. A really nice horse for Ciaron Maher. He made his Australian debut over the mile at Sandown where he gave them a start and a beating, launching late and producing excellent change up speed to win and win well. Fitter and up in trip, J Mac on, he clearly appeals.

1 Circle Of Fire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1900m for Ciaron Maher. This import was kept very safe in betting when making his Australian debut over the mile at Flemington a few weeks back where he was able to use the inside gate to advantage and tried his guts out but just lacked the turn of foot late when close up in defeat behind Rumbled Again. Might want one more and 2400m+, but he looks a horse with talent.

3 Fly Fly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly that has a good engine under the hood. Team Hawkes trained filly that has been strong in two career outings. This girl was good on debut behind Switzerland in the Pierro Plate before going to the Sweet Embrace when back near last and charged late when second to Manaal. Hard fit now, home track, she appeals.

2 Castanya (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is five weeks between runs for Annabel Neasham since scoring an impressive win in the Lonhro Plate where she gave them a start and a beating in a brilliant display. Not sure how strong the race was but the debut behind Switzerland, that clearly reads well for this, and she’s racing like 1200m suits.

6 Totoka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improving type. I am very forgiving of her run in the Sweet Embrace two weeks back when three/four wide no cover and that hard run just told late in the piece when down the track behind Manaal. Think with a more economical run in transit, he can run an improved race.

7 Gatsby’s (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a really good prospect for Chris Waller. This colt debuted under the lights at Canterbury where he seemingly got better as the race went on and knuckled down with purpose to win well. He looks a serious player for the next few weeks and think he will confirm himself as a Slipper contender with a win here.

3 Dublin Down (Bet Now:  $SP.00) drops in grade/depth, three weeks between runs since a down the track effort in the Blue Diamond where he got into a reasonable spot from the gate but couldn’t get involved, but that said, he wasn’t beaten far when 3.6L from Hayasugi. Think he does have talent so I am not dismissing him.

6 Duvana (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a nice colt for Chris Waller that is heading in the right direction. This guy ran two weeks back in the Skyline where he was comfortably held by Storm Boy but that said, he was far from disgraced in defeat. He’s getting better with racing and seemingly strikes a winnable race.

4 Just Fine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. Looking at this race on Monday off noms, I thought it would thin right out but some of the big guns have accepted here so I am not as bullish on this guy as I was then, but I still think he’s the one to beat. Yes, plain return in the Verry Elleegant, but he was first up on a shifty track and just couldn’t let down. Firmer deck, looks the leader, hard to get past.

8 Athabascan (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on track for the Sydney Cup I feel. John O’Shea trained gelding that resumed two weeks back in the Verry Elleegant where he found them a bit sharp but that said, he was far from disgraced in a strong effort behind Think It Over, a definite pass mark. Better set up here and although he may need one more, the return was good enough to ignore.

2 Explosive Jack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a class runner of the field and that class will carry him a long way for Ciaron Maher. He resumed three weeks back in the Parramatta Cup where he got back to near last in the run and just looked in need of the run when down the track behind More Felons. Better set up here and his class factor has to ensure him as a knockout hope at the very least even though he wants 2400m+.

4 Red Card (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the hardest to beat for James Cummings. This mare resumed over 1100m at Rosehill three weeks ago where she got into a dream spot near the speed before J Mac angled him into clear air and she let down with purpose late to win and win well. Good improvement to come and like her staying at 1100m. Hard to beat.

7 Omni Man (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was out of form for some time but that changed three week ago here when closing off well enough in defeat but just found one better in Red Card. Now he’s found positive form, he can certainly go on with it and take this out in what is a winnable race.

9 Meritable (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a must for exotics. Mick Minervini trained galloper that ran a few weeks back over 1300m at Randwick. He got into a decent spot just off the speed and he tried his guts out but 1300m at this level was a bridge too far but he was still solid in defeat. Back to 1100m I think will be okay and he’s one of the knockout hopes.

11 Zardozi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is worth an each way bet. I am not dismissing her despite seemingly being plain in the Surround. I just think she got too far back, was too wide and the track was on the shifty side, something she hates. She is a dry deck specialist, she’s fitter, gets a rise in trip, drops in overall depth…her best is clearly good enough.

4 Heman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another look for Team Snowden. This guy resumed three weeks ago in the Hobartville where he got back to near last in the run and failed to make up any real headway when down the track behind Celestial Legend, who of course came out and won the Guineas last weekend. Good improvement, don’t dismiss him.

1 Raf Attack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for GaiBott and his best is good enough to be dangerous. He resumed three weeks ago in the Hobartville when doing work from the wide gate but despite that, he was very much on the plain side late in the piece behind Celestial Legend. Trialled well leading and overall, this isn’t a deep race.

I am stunned the price that 11 Yonce (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is. Stable/connections are desperate to win a G1 with her. Strong all the way winner at Caulfield last time and the form out of it has been solid enough via Foxy Cleopatra/Young Werther. Jumped out really well last Monday behind Pride Of Jenni at Cranbourne and now her confidence is up, she can go on with it.

1 Zougotcha (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been set for the race and we know a Waller horse in a set GF is an ideal recipe. This mare was ridden with real confidence by J Mac when resuming in the Millie Fox three weeks ago and she duly saluted, proving too good for Lady Laguna, who came out and won a Group l last weekend so the form is A1 and with natural improvement, she clearly rates highly.

10 Renaissance Woman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a strong second up record. She resumed in the Guy Walter where she got back and made her run nearer the inside, which was quicksand. She made up headway but was never a winning threat. Gets good weight relief, good second up record, maps ideally and should be strong at the end.

Looks to be a stack of speed here and I reckon it sets up perfect for 2 Detonator Jack (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who resumes for Ciaron Maher. He hasn’t raced since The Ingham when back near last in the run and made up solid headway late in the piece behind Loch Eagle. Trial work to get read has been strong, he maps to stalk the speed and be strong at the end.

5 Democracy Manifest (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned really well I feel and fitter, up in trip, he’ll take beating. This guy resumed two weeks ago in the Liverpool Cup where he was back near last in the run and stayed nearer the inside. He was never a winning threat but I really liked the way he finished his race off behind Phearson. Fitter and up in trip, hard to beat if he can settle closer.

12 Robusto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been up a while but Chris Waller has him going really well at the moment. This guy ran three weeks ago over 1400m here where he tried his guts out from just off the speed but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to stablemate Welwal. Holding his form really well and is one to be included in exotics.

7 Tavi Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a star for Kris Lees. Big Dance eligible and looks a complete good thing in the Provincial Championships Final. His win first up on the home deck at Newcastle was something else. For a moment, he looked to be in a tad of trouble, but he balanced up and the manner in which he spanked them…gee he’s a good horse and I am keen to see how he goes.

6 Whinchat (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited here. Thrown in the deep end in the Liverpool City Cup last time where he sat on a strong speed and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite see it through and just tired late behind Phearson. Back to benchmark grade, should find the front and take running down.

2 Superium (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Hawkes trained gelding that resumes. This guy was last seen on Dec 9 at Randwick when midfield behind Baby Rider, getting back and making up solid headway late in the piece. Trialled well enough at Rosehill to my eye and although he’ll spot them a start, he should be strong at the end.

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 11 Yonce
