A strong nine race program has been set down for Warwick Farm on Wednesday, headlined by the Gloaming Stakes (1600m). The weather is fine, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:45) Fujitsu General Mdn Plate 1000m
6 Her Excellency (Bet Now:Β $3.80) on top but a race where the market will be the main guide. Team Snowden have had a sharp start with their babies though and this girl did show a nice turn of foot from off the speed to win a Rosehill trial. Happy to have her on top but again, just watch the market.
5 Divine Glory (Bet Now:Β $1.45) is the raging odds on favourite and you can see why given she has the race day experience and did run third in the Gimcrack behind Platinum Jubilee, a race which most are saying is better than the Breeders Plate, so if that is indeed correct, this girl should just about win. Just not sure I could take $1.40 for a filly who will be a query finishing the race off strongly.
8 Mercury Rose (Bet Now:Β $10.00) is a Gary Portelli trained filly on debut. She has only had the one trial, which came at Randwick when a well held fifth, and it wasn’t a trial that screamed out of a coming debut winner. But, she has home track advantage, and that counts for plenty at Warwick Farm.
Race 2. (13:20) Tab Mdn Hcp 1400m
All three runs this time in for 6 Built (Bet Now:Β $3.20) have come at 1400m, which is a slight query, but he will be strong late. He ran in the 1400m maiden at Rosehill two weeks ago and was very good late when third to a handy one, Stylised. He has a habit of getting back in the run but if he is able to settle closer, he’ll take beating I’d suggest.
5 Pungo (Bet Now:Β $1.75) looks a nice type for Chris Waller. He debuted at Rosehill over 1200m, a trip seemingly short of his best, but really liked the way he finished his race off behind Saturn Star. Like him up to 1400m and with the scratchings, this race has fallen right away. Hard to beat.
14 In Love And War (Bet Now:Β $17.00) is the one that represents value. She resumed in the Saturn Star race mentioned above and I thought she closed off her race quite nicely from near last in the run, finishing not far away from Pungo. That horse is odds on here while this girl is close to $20. Too big of a price gap, so I am respecting her.
Race 3. (13:55) Home Affairs @ Coolmore Mdn 1200m
15 Rhettara (Bet Now:Β $6.50) looks a nice filly for James Cummings. She is on debut off the back of a couple of trials this time in to get ready for start one, her latest trial seeing her win at Rosehill and I thought she moved very well under J Mac. Tricky draw, but she’s the one to beat with luck.
3 Pereille (Bet Now:Β $2.15) is bursting to win his maiden. Close up third here on debut behind Great Barrier Reef before going to Rosehill and he was very good in defeat when second to Saturn Star, beaten narrowly after doing work from the wide gate. Short enough in the market, but hard to beat all the same.
6 Tiritiri (Bet Now:Β $7.50) should love the rise to 1200m. The debut run was quite staggeringly good given it was at 1000m and on breeding, he is a 2000m+ horse, so the fact he dashed and found the line so well to run second was very good. 1200m, upside, Waller polish…he appeals big time. Just could get into a tricky spot from the inside gate.
Race 4. (14:30) Furphy (Bm72) 2400m
8 Essential Sky (Bet Now:Β $6.50) should love the rise to 2400m. Game third two back over 1800m before going to the mile several weeks ago at Randwick and was very good late in the piece without threatening behind Mahagoni. She’s racing like she will eat up more ground, which she gets here, and any rain helps.
2 Al Aabir (Bet Now:Β $3.00) looks a real one batter so I think the rise to 2400m is ideal for this Waller stayer. He slogged it out best to win the maiden two back on the Ballarat Synthetic before going to 2200m here where he toughed it out best in a driving go to win. Extra 200m looks ideal and he’s heading in the right direction.
4 Legend Has It (Bet Now:Β $10.00) hasn’t set the world on fire this time in but if he was able to sit closer in the run, he could be dangerous. He ran over this trip at Rosehill two weeks back and just got a mile out of his ground but was solid late behind Rondino. A winning threat if the inside gate is used to advantage.
Race 5. (15:05) Hyland Race Colours (Bm78) 1600m
1 Mayfair Spirit (Bet Now:Β $3.60) looks really hard to beat here. Maher/Eustace trained gelding that was wide no cover at The Valley last time and against the pattern, he was actually quite good in defeat behind Military Expert, a Group l placegetter since. Lands on the bunny and with the claim for Gibbons, he rates quite highly.
8 Hollywood North (Bet Now:Β $3.20) looks to have returned in good order. He resumed over 1400m at Rosehill and worked home strongly from near last on the turn when fourth to Mensa Missile, clocking some of the better late splits of the race. Encouraging return and fitter, up to the mile, he appeals.
3 Easy Campese (Bet Now:Β $9.50) is capable with his best. He ran over 1400m here last Monday where he was too bad to be true behind Cinque Torri. I reckon the key to him is dry ground, and finding it. If this track could dry out somewhat, he can be a tough horse to get past on speed.
Race 6. (15:40) Palace Pier @ Darley (Bm72) 1100m
1 Coco Rox (Bet Now:Β $2.15) has to lump 59.5kg, but she does have a fair bit of class on her side and Zac Lloyd is riding in super form. She resumes for Matty Dunn, having not raced since Ipswich Cup Day when a close up but tiring fourth. She’s a good fresh horse and her trials leading in indicates she’s ready to go.
7 Va Via (Bet Now:Β $4.40) should appreciate racing away from Saturday metro grade. Was solid enough in defeat last time down the straight at Flemington when third to Joyful Fortune, who goes around in The Everest. If the inside is okay, she has the right form to give this a shake.
11 Passistas (Bet Now:Β $17.00) is a knockout chance. Matty Smith trained mare that has been strong in two runs back from a spell. Was good late fresh at Gosford before going to Kembla where she got a mile out of her ground and was never threatening but really liked the way she finished her race off. If she’s within range on the turn, I think she’ll take holding out.
Race 7. (16:15) Schweppes (Bm72) 1400m
9 Camino Real (Bet Now:Β $2.25) looks hard to beat. James Cummings trained mare that resumed in a five horse race at Hawkesbury where she looked a good thing on paper and she duly saluted, giving her four rivals a spanking. Has shown city class abilty beforehand and that return was good. Leading chance.
1 More Secrets (Bet Now:Β $6.00) gets in well after the claim and appeals. This mare ran at the midweeks at Canterbury and didn’t have the best of luck when a close up fourth to dynamic winner Loch Eagle, who will go around as a key chance in The Silver Eagle. The depth here is nowhere near as strong, should be handy and hard to run down.
12 Irish Kisses (Bet Now:Β $12.00) is a sneaky knockout hope at odds. She resumed two weeks back at Rosehill where she got a mile out of her ground and was never really a threat, but really like the way she finished her race off when third to Arbitration. Hard to beat if she’s within range on the turn.
Race 8. (16:50) Gloaming Stakes 1600m
5 Sharp N Smart (Bet Now:Β $2.60) is a quality Kiwi that if he runs up to what he did in the Winter, he wins. Resumed several weeks ago at Ruakaka in NZ where he was on speed and looked like he was beaten but class kicked in and he was too good for them. Group l horse off his Brisbane efforts and should eat up 1600m.
3 Williamsburg (Bet Now:Β $3.00) is a promising animal for the Ryan/Alexiou camp and comes here in winning form after bolting up in the Dulcify where he once again showed his love affair with Randwick and wet ground when bolting up. Wide draw, likely back again but should be strong late.
9 Coppleson (Bet Now:Β $14.00) looks to be on track for the Spring Champion. 2/2 to start his career before going to the Rosehill 1800m where he was dragged back from the wide gate and was never a factor but really liked the way he picked up late when fourth to White Marlin. This is a prep run for the Spring Champion but he’ll be the flashing light.
Race 9. (17:30) Vinery Stallions (Bm72) 1100m
4 Mars Mission (Bet Now:Β $1.90) is a promising Team Hawkes four year old that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Bendigo Guineas when producing an end of prep run behind Gundec. He’s been gelded and his two trials to get ready have been sharp. Drawn wide, but presses forward and with the claim for Lloyd, he’s in nicely at the weights.
10 Allusionist (Bet Now:Β $7.00) is a consistent gelding for Team Freedman that should be around the mark. He ran at Newcastle just under a month ago when just off the speed and tried his guts out when third to a handy one, Five Crowns. He tends to race best on the fresh side and maps idealy with Nash steering.
15 Feel The Knight (Bet Now:Β $10.00) is the swimmer of the field and is right down in the weights. Pike gave him little hope in the Highway last time and rocketed late when second to a handy one, Shalster. Gets his wet track and with a more positive ride, I think he’s a definite winning chance.
