Christian Reith achieved his season ambition this week and raised the bar even higher after a winning double at Rosehill.
The in-form jockey’s double took his season tally to 102 winners on all tracks and Khas Kura was his 29th city winner to put him in the top 10 in the Sydney premiership.
“My goal was to ride 100 winners for the season and that’s 102 now,” Reith said after bringing up his Rosehill double.
“Even though I’ve reached 100 that doesn’t mean I’m going to slow down, I want to get to 120 now.”
Reith has been in outstanding form in recent weeks with a treble at Canterbury two weeks ago followed by a stakes double at Scone last weekend.
The 32-year-old got on the board at Rosehill with victory on the John O’Shea-trained Miss Marx in the Camden Hire Handicap (1200m) before the Peter Snowden-trained Khas Kura burst through the pack later in the day to win.
O’Shea has been a huge supporter of Reith since the jockey returned to Sydney racing early last year and Snowden has also been utilising his services more frequently including stakes victories in the Scone Cup and Dark Jewel Classic last weekend.
Reith said he was trying to make the most of his opportunties.
“That’s what it’s all about, getting opportunities, getting on the right cattle, and having a little bit of luck on the way,” Reith said.
“I’m fortunate enough to have had that and I’m just trying to make every post a winner.”
