American speedster Undrafted is likely to stay at home to be prepared for the Breeders’ Cup rather than make another trip to England for the Sprint Cup at Haydock.

The Wesley Ward-trained Undrafted edged out Australian Brazen Beau to win the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

Ward already has his eye on the Breeders’ Cup and feels another trip to Britain could be detrimental to his chances at Keeneland in November.

“We’re thinking of it (Sprint Cup), but looking at the rest of the year, with the Breeders’ Cup here in Keeneland this year, we might prefer to keep him at home,” Ward said.

“If we took him to Haydock, we might be short on time to get him back for the Breeders’ Cup, so it’s probably more likely than not we’ll stay here.

The trainer is, however, preparing to return with his other Royal Ascot winner Acapulco who will try to add the Nunthorpe Stakes at York to her Queen Mary Stakes success.

“She’s heading to York and we’re all pretty excited about it.

“The Nunthorpe is definitely the target and everything is on schedule.

“She can get a direct flight from Alabama to Stansted and then take the drive up to York. Everything looks good, so it’s up to the horse now.”

Acapulco will be joined on the trip across the Atlantic by another exciting juvenile Finnegan.

The Coolmore-owned colt was due to line up in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, but suffered an 11th hour setback.

“He got a colic on the day of the race in Ascot, which was disappointing,” Ward said.

“He’s coming back now, though, and hopefully he’ll be ready to go to York as well for the Gimcrack.
