Just hours after arriving in Hong Kong, Sydney jockey Tommy Berry has won the Group One QEII Cup race on Military Attack for leading trainer John Moore.
The 22-year-old Berry, who has taken up a short-term contract in Hong Kong, rode in Sydney on Saturday before taking his first overseas flight.
The QEII Cup brought up Group One No.6 for Berry who claimed his first last August aboard Epaulette in the Golden Rose.
Over the autumn carnival, Berry collected the two richest races on the Sydney calendar, the $3.5 million Golden Slipper and $2 million Doncaster Mile.
Military Attack was within striking distance halfway down the straight and burst clear to beat California Memory and Eishin Flash.
“Does it get any better than this,” Berry said.
Godolphin’s hopes of a Group One win were dashed when Sajjhaa could only manage fourth after a slow start.
