In-form Sydney filly Happy Hussy has joined the race for the Magic Millions Guineas.

Rosehill trainer David Payne lodged a late entry for the $1 million race on Tuesday morning.

Happy Hussy convinced Payne she was worthy of a Magic Millions start with her come-from-behind Rosehill win on Saturday.

The Hussonet filly has gone from strength to strength this term, winning three of her four starts.

Pre-post Guineas operators installed Happy Hussy on the second line of betting at $6 behind Safusa ($4.80) once her nomination was confirmed.

While Happy Hussy rocketed into Guineas contention, hopes for a lesser known but nonetheless promising three-year-old fell by the wayside.

Maiden galloper The Firehouse has been declared ineligible to contest the race.

“Unfortunately he wasn’t paid up for the race series,” Magic Millions race series spokesman Ross McKeown said.

Jason Coyle nominated The Firehouse for a $100,000 race at the Gold Coast on Saturday for a possible do-or-die bid to make the Guineas field.

The young trainer said he might now revise immediate racing plans for the galloper.

The Firehouse is yet to win in six starts but Coyle rates the gelding a potential carnival player.

“At the moment he is a very good maiden because if you look at each race he has been beaten in there has been a handy galloper to come out of it,” Coyle said.

“His runs have been very good. Most times it’s been a case of meeting a better one on the day.”

Two unraced youngsters were among three late entries for the $2 million Magic Millions Classic including Delagos, an Encosta De Lago filly trained by Anthony Cummings.

Nominations for supporting races on Saturday week also closed on Tuesday with the meeting attracting more than 560 entries.

Gold Coast will host a metropolitan meeting on Saturday with 12 nominations for the feature race, the $100,000 Bat Out Of Hell (900m).
