Warhorse Zipping has continued to firm for the Australian Cup and is now into $5.50 following a sustained betting plunge on the nine year old at Sportingbet Australia.
The Lloyd Williams owned gelding has shortened from $7.00 to $5.50 in the past week and Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said he was now his worst result.
“There has been a sustained move for Zipping in the past two weeks with big bets rolling in regularly,†Sullivan said.
“He has been backed to take out $25,000 in the past twenty four hours and the money just keeps coming for him.
“He looks a good risk to me at these odds but punters disagree despite the fact he has only had one run this preparation.
“He is the proven weight for age runner in the race and that is probably why punters are happy to keep backing him but he certainly looks to have reached his price now.â€
Heart of Dreams is the current $4.80 favourite for the Australian Cup with Sportingbet ahead of Zipping, Moudre who is $7.00 and Linton, Shocking and Precedence who are all $9.00.
“Heart of Dreams has been very easy drifting from $4.50 to $4.80 despite excellent form this time in, “Sullivan said.
“There has been some specking for a couple of runners at double figure odds with three year old Playing God and Alcopop having supporters but very little for those at the top of betting apart from Zipping.â€
