9/9/2023 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Belmont, Farnley Stakes day

Blacktype racing returns to Belmont this Saturday where it is Farnley Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out seven metres for the entire circuit.

Fitter, I want to give 6 Russian Sniper (Bet Now:  $SP.00) another look. Adam Durrant trained gelding that resumed two weeks ago at this track/distance where he got back to near last in the run and did make up solid headway but was never really a threat behind Little Strawberry. He’ll be better for the run and if he can settle closer, he’ll take holding out.

1 Paddy’s Flyin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done a super job this time in for David Harrison and rates as one of the leading contenders. He is on the seven day back up after winning last Saturday here, leading throughout and was there to be run down but found under pressure to fend them off and win. Good test here against some likely types but hard to knock how he’s racing.

4 Playthatfunkymusic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good second up record and I think can be a big improver. He resumed two weeks back at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and just looked in need of the run, tiring late behind Little Strawberry. Better for the run under the belt, he’s a big improver because his best is certainly good enough.

4 Collective (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the way I am leaning for Neville Parnham. This mare ran two back at this track/distance and was a real eye catcher from the back before going back to 1200m two weeks ago and worked home with real purpose late in the piece behind Costazita in a good effort. Back up to 1400m I like and if she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take beating.

7 Ruling Dame (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t been too bad in two runs for Dan Morton and third up, she should be ready to go. Latest run came over 1300m here at the midweeks last time when back off the speed and kept chasing in a good effort behind Flash Max. Hard fit now and up to 1400m, more positive ride, she can win.

1 Forever Dreaming (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a big improver here for Colin Webster. This mare resumed two weeks back over 1200m where she had a soft sit behind the speed and was there to win but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Costazita. Gets a much better set up this time around and with a good second up record, she appeals.

6 Sisu Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found that winning feeling again and he can go on with it. He had finished runner up in three races on the bounce before winning two weeks ago over 1400m here, getting a great time of it in front and was there to be beaten but he had plenty in hand under Pike and was impressive. Good test here, but confident he measures up.

4 Cash Away (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect for Misty Bazeley. This gelding got a sweet steer from CJP to win a fortnight back at this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating, with his turn of foot coming to the fore in a strong win. He has that 1600m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead for this.

1 True Attraction (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one for wider multiples. He is three weeks between runs since contesting the Broome Cup where he had been up a while. hard racing, and just looked a tired horse. Mini freshen should do him the world of good and while I highly doubt he wins, he can pinch a first four spot.

2 Oscar’s Fortune (Bet Now:  $SP.00) could be a potential short course jet. Dion Luciani trained three year old that had trialled up impressively prior to debuting last Wednesday at this track/distance where sustained speed came to the fore from the outset, leading throughout and giving nothing else a look in. Good test here against some likely types but with his racing pattern, he’ll give himself every chance.

1 Soaring Solo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Colin Webster trained filly that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since May 6 over 1000m at Ascot when producing an end of prep run when down the track behind Eliteone. Been given a good break and with a sharp trial win under the belt, maps to get an ideal run in transit…think she only runs well.

4 Blue Lagoon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is still a maiden but he has a decent engine under the hood and can take this out for sure. He resumed just over two weeks back in a 1000m maiden at Northam when off the speed and kept finding the line in a strong effort when a narrow second to Gold Citation. He has the right form around him from last prep to say he can win this.

2 Valency (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been excellent in two runs back from a break and third up, she should be hard fit and ready to go. Both runs back this time in have come over 1000m here, the latest being two weeks ago when driving hard late from the inside gate, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Little Strawberry. Like her up to 1200m and with a more positive steer, he’ll take beating.

1 Famous Jurney (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well without winning but with his racing style, he’ll be around the mark. He attempted to lead throughout a fortnight back at this track/distance and giving a very strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through and bumped into a potential Stakes class horse in Costazita. Last bit will test but he’ll give himself every chance.

7 Set The Scene (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is two weeks between runs for Sean Rains since winning at Junction, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive display. Overall, this isn’t a deep metro race, and he does come here off a win, so with that in mind, I do think he commands some level of respect.

6 Californication (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a very promising horse for Paul Rowe. This gelding resumed at Kalgoorlie where he looked a moral on paper and despite a few nervous moments trying to get clear air, once it eventuated, he exploded and gapped his rivals for a dominant return. Fitter and up to the mile, enormous upside, could be a case of good luck beating him.

3 Romancing The Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win one for Team Williams. Market wanted him with confidence when racing a fortnight back at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite see it through, run down late by Stylax. I think he’s better when ridden with a sit so I think if that eventuates here, he’ll take holding out.

7 Fly Away Home (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout hope. Dan Morton trains this gelding, that ran over this track/distance two weeks back where I was quite keen on his chances but given the way the track played, he was no hope of making up the ground so be forgiving of the run. Hopefully this track plays more fair and if that eventuates, he’ll be hard to hold out.

If 4 Searchin’ Rocs (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is ready to go, he’s the one they have to beat, quite clearly. She resumes for David Harrison, having not raced since the Northerly when down the track behind Amelia’s Jewel. Kept on ice with the Carnival in mind once again and off the back of two sharp trials, Chris Parnham ridden both times and rides fresh, there looks to be a fair amount of intent.

10 Ginger Baker (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1400m from the mile but gee it’s hard to knock the way he’s racing. He was a strong winner of the Blue Spec three weeks back at the mile, landing in a plum spot behind the speed before angling into clear air and he got better as the race went on, drawing clear late for an impressive win. Back in trip, I think, will be fine, and hard to knock the way he’s racing.

7 Blazing Away (Bet Now:  $SP.00) likely has Perth Cup aspirations so this is a kick off point for him but he does have a touch of quality about him when right. He resumes, having not raced since the Pinjarra Cup when far from disgraced in defeat behind Casino Seventeen. He’ll likely need the run but with a genuine speed in front, he’ll get his chance to finish off strong and clean out some cobwebs.

10 Costazita… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) just how good is he? 2/2 to start his career for Trevor Andrews with a spell in between. Market wanted him with confidence when resuming two weeks ago and despite doing a little bit wrong, he went through his gears like a good horse late and won with something in hand. It’s all upside with him and potentially, he could be Stakes class. Keen on his prospects.

4 Red Fifty Three (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a slight query at 1400m but it’s hard to knock the way he’s racing. He got a 12/10 from Pike to win a fortnight back, getting the sweet sit behind the speed before angling clear and in a driving finish, he got the job done. I think with a patient steer, 1400m is fine and given how he’s racing, he rates highly.

11 Hibiscus Lady (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a mare that resumes and is one that I can entertain for wider multiples. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here where she seemingly had the sweet sit behind the speed and presented to win but couldn’t quite finish it off behind the very much in form Aztec Ruler. Think back on a firmer deck, she can run a much improved rac.
