Race 1. (11:30) Midway (Bm72) 1100m
5 Rantan (Bet Now: $SP.00) is running out of chances but I do think back to Midway grade, she looks well placed. She ran here two weeks ago where she actually jumped well but was dragged back for cover and was held up at times but good late when clear. If she gets a half positive ride, I think she wins.
8 Mabel (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1100m after racing over 1000m last Wednesday at Warwick Farm. She wasn’t 100% happy on the bog and just whacked in the run to the line behind Prima Bella. Firmer deck, I think she’s definite improver.
9 Mad Darcey (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a David Pfieffer trained mare that resumes and rarely runs poorly at Midway grade. She hasn’t raced since June 8 at Wyong when down the track and looked a tired horse. Given a good break and liked the way she moved in a recent trial.
Race 2. (12:05) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1000m
4 Cambar (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the winner if he’s ready and can put his hand up for The Kosciuszko. He resumes for Gary Colvin, having not raced since Feb 17 at Wagga when producing an end of prep run in the Country Championship Preview. Given a good break and his trial work has been electric. Keen.
2 Bengal (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over 1100m at Randwick. He was coming back to 1100m from 1300m and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. That said, he was far from disgraced in defeat. Has a touch of class and will be strong at the end.
6 Veecee (Bet Now: $SP.00) is suited back to 1000m for Cassie Schmidt after racing over 1100m three weeks back in the Highway. He kept finding the line from a box seat trail when third to Shropshire Lad. Like him back in trip, he should be strong late…in with a shout.
Race 3. (12:40) Petaluma (Bm78) 1200m
2 Regimental Colours (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a few loose screws upstairs but she has an engine under the hood. She was a strong winner here two weeks ago, knuckling down with purpose late to score and score well. Harder here but confident she measures up.
1 Dollar Magic (Bet Now: $SP.00) rarely runs poorly at this level and she does strike a winnable race. She ran on speed over 1200m a few weeks ago and was there to win when presented and asked but had to settle for a narrow second to Useapin. Good racing style, she takes beating.
8 Karinska (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Chris Waller trained filly that resumes after a three run prep in the Autumn as a juvenile, trying to get into the Slipper, but didn’t quite measure up in the lead ins. Given a good break, trial work has been encouraging, watch the market.
Race 4. (13:15) Chandon (Bm72) 1400m
5 Amreekiyah (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a very progressive mare for Peter Snowden. She resumed with a bang at the midweeks at Canterbury, getting better as the race went on, knuckling down with purpose late to win and win well. Fitter and up in trip, she’ll take beating against these.
1 Stardeel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after a strong win last Saturday at Rosehill. Not sure he was 100% happy on the wet track but he handled it best and was far too good. Hard to knock the way he’s racing.
7 Pretty Powerful (Bet Now: $SP.00) is suited up to 1400m after racing over 1250m at Canterbury where he found himself wide no cover on speed and that burn just told on him late when fourth. I think with a better run in transit, his best is more than good enough.
Race 5. (13:50) Ranvet (Bm88) 1000m
6 Bonita Queen (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a short course mare for Bjorn Baker that resumes. She hasn’t raced since Feb 22 at Rosehill when leading and giving a decent kick from the front but felt the pinch late when fourth to Boston Rocks. She does seem to fly early on in the prep and her trial work indicates she’s ready to rock and roll first up.
4 World Alliance (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1000m for Matty Smith after racing over 1100m here two weeks ago. He got back to near last but saved ground and loomed but couldn’t quite finish it off when second to Cigar Flick. He’ll be strong late. Just doesn’t want to concede too much head start.
1 Disneck (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came three weeks ago at Rosehill. He just found them too sharp over 1100m but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Romeo’s Choice. Fitter, he likes the Randwick…dangerous for sure.
Race 6. (14:25) Drinkwise Mile (Bm78) 2400m
4 Canberra Legend (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Chris Waller after racing last Saturday at Rosehill where he found the track far too wet and was never a factor. Like him up to 2400m and on firmer footing, he can run a much improved race.
5 Cormac T (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 2400m at Rosehiill for Team Archibald. He got into a decent spot in behind them and tried hard but I just reckon 2400m at this level sees him out and he felt the pinch late, so that leaves me with doubts, but with a soft run, a win wouldn’t shock.
8 Funambulist (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came last Wednesday at Warwick Farm where he wasn’t 100% happy on the bog but knuckled down with purpose late to win. His confidence is up, he is a first four threat.
Race 7. (15:00) Asahi Super Dry (Bm78) 1200m
12 Theblade (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Toronado that resumes for Team Hawkes. He resumes, having not raced since Feb 22 behind Boston Rocks in his lone run for the prep. He got back, held up and did make ground but was never really a threat. Loved the way he trucked in a recent trial win at Rosehill, watch betting.
5 Iron Man (Bet Now: $SP.00) is finding it hard to win but that said, he is racing in solid form. He tried his guts out over 1200m a few weeks back but just couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Yoshinobu. He’ll get off speed but be quite strong at the end.
10 Crop Duster (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope after racing over 1300m here two weeks back behind Lugh. She got back to near last in the run but worked home well enough. Her best is good enough to be a knockout chance so don’t dismiss her.
Race 8. (15:40) Missile Stakes 1200m
3 Encap (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks here to play I suspect for Gary Portelli. He resumes, having not raced since the JRA Plate during the Autumn Carnival where he ran his race in patches and was never really a factor behind Bois D’Argent. Given a good break and his trial work, notably his second trial, was very good.
4 General Salute (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here off a mini freshen up, his resumption being in the Healy Stakes where he was one of the runs of the meeting in defeat given the pattern when third to Metalart. His tick over trial was a good piece of work and he should be strong at the end.
5 Brudenell (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kris Lees trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since June 7 in the Bob Charley when a game second to In Flight, continuing a good prep. Trialled up super for the return, good racing style…dangerous.
Race 9. (16:15) Premier's Cup Prelude 1800m
I think 3 Asterix (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying. Whether this is his race and if he can win fresh, not sure, but off his trials, I have to speck each way. He was just fair in the Autumn but now he’s had the prep under Waller, come back, and his two trials have been excellent. I think he’ll run really well.
11 Thalassophile (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Chris Waller. Her latest run was at Eagle Farm in the Tatts Crown. She got too far back in the run and while she was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat. She’ll be strong late and is a must for exotics.
1 More Felons (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Chris Waller trained stayer that resumes, potentially with eyes towards the big 2400m+ races. He hasn’t raced since the 2024 Tancred when second to Kalapour. Has clearly had his issues but trialled up very well. Watch betting.
Race 10. (16:55) Tab (Bm78) 1600m
13 Fairway Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it for Bjorn Baker. She finished best and handled the bog to win last Wednesday at Warwick Farm, getting better as the race went on. Proven Saturday metro peformer at this level, she appeals.
3 Puntin (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a threat. He attempted to lead throughout a fortnight back here and was trucking in front but when asked for the effort, the wheels were spinning. Hopefully on a firmer deck here, good racing style, he’s a threat for sure.
8 Be Real (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Brad Widdup trained mare that resumes. She teased to win races when last in work but just couldn’t quite finish her races off well enough. Better suited over further but don’t mind her at 1600m fresh and her trial work has been more than encoraging.
