9/4/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville, Auraria Stakes day

The Adelaide Carnival continues this Saturday at Morphettville where it is Auraria Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eight metres from the 1200m-Winning Post; Out six metres for the remainder.

If 2 Calypso Reign (Bet Now: $2.80) is ready to go, he wins. I reckon with a question mark on Behemoth, this guy could be one they want to try and sneak into a Goodwood. He was Stakes placed when last in work, he flies fresh, liked his recent jumpout…if indeed he’s a Goodwood horse, he has to be winning this.

I think 5 Point Blaze (Bet Now: $2.50) deserves another chance. Far from disgraced fresh in the Matrice before racing at The Valley where I’m not sure the tight track was to her liking so want to be forgiving of that effort. Back at home, third up, hard fit, her best is good enough to beat this lot.

6 Lianne (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Jordan Frew trained mare that resumes. This girl really came of age when last in work, winning a couple of races on the bounce before a third at this track/distance. Now she’s had a full prep with Frew, I’m keen to see how she goes and she’s certainly capable.

7 Prince Of Fences (Bet Now: $1.85) is racing really well this time in. He was there to beat Sanblas a fortnight back and did try hard, but was just no match for that horse, who was strong to the line and through it in a dominant display. I think 2000m on the bigger track suits him and the stable is finding form.

2 Lord Bouzeron (Bet Now: $6.50) rises sharply in trip but I think it will suit and interesting that Jess Eaton is riding this guy and not the stablemate. Ran over 1400m on the Parks track two weeks ago and worked home okay without really threatening behind Impossible Action. Has class and upside.

1 Pearl Bandit (Bet Now: $10.00) is a query at the trip but the talent is there. He ran here over the mile on Adelaide Cup Day when wide with cover and worked to the line okay without really threatening behind Tullys Gold. If he can see the trip out okay, I think he’s a knockout chance with his best.

3 Libiamo (Bet Now: $2.30) is a talented filly that is having her first run for Will Clarken. Hasn’t raced since the Spring when down the track in the Atlantic Jewel at The Valley behind Zouzarella. Has jumped out quite well leading in and market will be fascinating to see which way it goes.

7 Daring Move (Bet Now: $4.40) is three weeks between runs for Team Jolly since racing on the Parks track where she led throughout and yes, was helped by the track pattern, but that aside, she was still dominant and far too good for them. Run prior behind Magic Max was very good so she has the right form around her to give this a shake.

6 Rising Legend (Bet Now: $31.00) can be an improver. Market didn’t want him when he resumed behind Daring Move in that race mentioned above, and given the way the track played, just forget he went around. Better suited on the bigger track and fitter, expect improvement.

5 Rudhyar (Bet Now: $5.50) on top but not jumping up and down. Lindsey Smith trains and suffice to say he had a horse go around here last Saturday that should have won but was given none. Gets a jockey upgrade compared to that and although his trial/jumpout has been fair, he looks a proper race day horse.

4 Tongsai Boss (Bet Now: $5.00) has found positive form. Hopefully he can hold it. Ran over 1400m on the Parks track two weeks ago when suited by a solid tempo and found the line strongly at the end when a close up third to Impossible Action in a race suited by those sitting off the tempo. Like him up to the mile and is hard to beat.

6 Crown Mint (Bet Now: $21.00) should appreciate the rise to the mile. He was an eye catcher first up at Murray Bridge over 1200m before stepping up to 1400m on the Parks track where he was a total forgive given the track pattern. If the track is playing fairly, off the fresh run, he’s in the mix.

3 Aitch Two Oh (Bet Now: $2.90) is a sharp filly for Team Jolly. Debuted on Boxing Day and spanked them. Spelled and resumed two weeks ago where she was a moral on paper and was indeed a moral on race day, winning quite impressively with plenty in hand. Good test for her here but confident she measures up.

2 Bistro (Bet Now: $3.40) is a filly with good talent. Team Freedman filly that won the Cinderella on Adelaide Cup Day, controlling from the front and giving nothing else a look in. Not sure she’ll lead here and her defeat has come when not leading. Talented, but I think will need things to fall into place.

10 Killiako (Bet Now: $9.50) is a first starter for Phillip Stokes that is in with a shout. Daughter of Maurice that trialled up super here back in January. Given a mini freshen up and her recent jumpout work suggests she has talent. Tricky draw, depth engaged, but she gets respect at odds.

1 Cafe Rizu (Bet Now: $5.00) looks well placed in these 60 races and with the claim, she’s very well in. Lovely ride from Ben Price saw her win on the Parks track two weeks ago, sitting off the good speed and getting last look. Tricky gate, but a mare that has found winning form, I think she can hold it.

7 Biarchi (Bet Now: $10.00) is a mare with talent when right. Ran over 1550m on the Parks track two weeks ago and was pretty good from off the speed I thought behind impressive winner Cafe Rizu. Staying at the trip is the knock with her given she’s suited over further, but she has a touch of class.

12 Harbelle (Bet Now: $12.00) deserves another chance. Ran in the Clare Lindop two weeks back when wide no cover for the trip and failed to fire a shot when down the track behind Mac N Cheese. Back to this level and off the prior form, I think she can easily bounce back here.

2 Mac N Cheese (Bet Now: $2.50) is the pick of the locals it would seem. Big win fresh on Adelaide Cup Day before going to the Clare Lindop two weeks ago where she justified the short quite with a demolition job over the mile. The 1800m looks like it will be fine for her and she’s clearly one of the hardest to beat.

3 My Whisper (Bet Now: $3.60) is a talented filly for Team Snowden that is looking to make it 4/4 this time in. Loved the way she dug in to win last Wednesday at Sandown. She was there to be run down but found plenty and safely held a smart one, Glint Of Hope. I reckon with a bunny to chase, she’ll be more effective.

7 The Map (Bet Now: $26.00) should love the rise to 1800m. This filly ran in the Clare Lindop two weeks back over the mile here and was very good from off the speed behind dominant winner Mac N Cheese. That was her first run in four weeks and she was staying at the mile so fitter, up to 1800m, she’s right in the mix.

2 Harleymoven (Bet Now: $3.90) looks a really good horse. He was massive in defeat two back behind Ancient Girl before racing on the Parks track two weeks ago where he was smashed in betting, considered a good thing and indeed he was, making a mess of them. Off that, he’ll clearly eat up 1800m here and is the one to beat.

10 Daisies (Bet Now: $1.70) is a talented filly for the Price/Kent camp. Lot to like about her resumption at Flemington before being given a peach by Zahra at The Valley, the breaks went her way and she was too good. She’ll love the rise in trip and has the runs on the board compared to most engaged.

9 Alpine Beau (Bet Now: $101.00) is still a maiden but he is a horse with really good talent. Far from disgraced two back behind Harleymoven before racing in a Gawler maiden on Sunday when an excellent third from near last behind a plunge horse. He’s racing like 1800m suits and is a must for exotics.

8 Fly On Bye (Bet Now: $4.80) looks a good thing in the get out. Team Kav trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since November 26 when down the track at The Valley behind Soul Obsession. Have loved his two jumpouts to get ready, he’ll be on speed and finds a very winnable race.

5 Three Tears (Bet Now: $8.00) is a progressive mare for Peter Hardacre that has done little wrong in two runs from a spell. Class got her home fresh at Mount Gambier before racing two weeks ago here on the Parks track when on speed and fought on strongly when second to Aston Rapova. Last bit will test but she’ll give a bold sight.

2 Call Me Curtis (Bet Now: $17.00) will run his usual honest race. Craig Curtis trained veteran that has been around the mark of late without winning, the latest run being over 1250m on the Parks track when leading and giving a good kick but just felt the pinch late behind Office Jim. Back to 60 grade and back to 1100m, he’ll run you a good race each way.

NEXT BEST: Race Nine Number 8 Fly On Bye

LONG SHOT: ace Four Number 5 Rudhyar
