Ten races will be run and won at Canberra this Sunday. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Landed with 4 Written By Lucy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) but not really a race I want to get involved in. This girl is on debut off the back of a trial here over 900m here when running third and seemingly moved well enough to my eye. Not a deep race this so she doesn’t have to be anything special to win on debut.

1 Teylu (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a handy looking gelding for Gratz Vella that resumes. He finished runner up in both runs when last in work, firstly on the Acton track before going here. Looks to have trialled well enough for the return and has a good racing style.

7 Cherry Jubilee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Todd Wilson trained filly that is on debut and I am always on guard when it comes to a juvenile taking on the older horses. Seemed to go okay in a Queanbeyan trial and is bred to be handy so I’d say watch the market and see what it does.

Back to 1000m, I am quite keen on 6 Gundy Guy (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He resumed in the National Sprint Preview where he loomed to win after getting a good trailing run but the end of 1200m, especially first up, just gave way late in the piece. Like him back to the short course and is one of the hardest to beat.

3 Fangela (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat for the Dryden/Snowden camp. He ran second in the National Sprint Preview. He landed on speed and seemed to have his chance, trying quite hard, but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Accapella Sun. Back to 1000m, good racing style, he appeals.

2 Major Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a great record at Canberra and does seem to click well with Tommy Berry. He ran over this trip at the midweeks at Warwick Farm when on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through, tiring late. More patient ride, he can bounce back.

2 Adolphus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Matty Dale. He has run in Highways in recent times, the latest being over 1800m at Randwick and tried hard when a close up third to Tapa Kick. Like him back to 1600m and Tommy is 1/1 when aboard the horse. Rates highly.

4 Lord Finland (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat for Luke Pepper. He’s in a purple patch at the moment, the latest start being a track/distance win when leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but found to fend them off. He’ll give a good sight.

3 Stupendo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout hope after placing at this track/distance last start where he seemed to get a decent enough run in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Lord Finland. Nash on, he’s a must for exotics.

3 Jacob’s Ladder (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to win for John Thompson. He has placed in both career outings, both at Warwick Farm. The debut came over 1100m before going to 1400m where he was near the speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late. Hard fit, kind map, depth not as deep…hard to beat.

4 Karmardo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for O’Shea/Charlton, having not raced since Feb 8 at Kembla when near the speed and tried hard but just lacked the finale to go with them late in the piece. Tick over trial was good and lands in a plum spot.

1 Menuhin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Not A Single Doubt that resumes. He hasn’t been seen since Nov 1 at Wagga when racing over 1400m. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but tired. Spelled and with two trials under the belt, claim, he’s a knockout hope.

2 French Ruler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take a power of beating for John Sargent. He resumed over 1300m at Rosehill where he got too far back in the run but loved the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Step Aside. Fitter, 1400m, Nash takes over, he’ll stand over this guy and think he can get him home.

1 Shangri La Spring (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a promising three year old for GaiBott that resumes. He had a fabulous prep when last in work, winning 3/3, including a strong win at Rosehill. Not sure what race they have in mind for this guy, but he’s a beauty who’ll press forward and take beating.

9 La Roja (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one to be entertained for exotics. She ran at the midweeks at Rosehill last time when off speed and while she was never a winning threat, she kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat. Maps to do no work and is one for multiples.

10 Sanctified (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a massive price here for mine and at the odds, I have to back each way. He did more than enough on debut behind Wodeton at Rosehill before going to the Inglis Millennium where he got too far back in the run but closed with real purpose. He’ll appreciate a good speed, be strong late…just looks an insane price.

12 Tropic…(Bet Now:  $SP.00) could he be a back up for Waller/J Mac if Wodeton does no good at Randwick? Too bad to be true on debut in the Canonbury before going to Canterbury where nothing really went right for him in a total forgive. He’s the reason J Mac has come to Canberra so he has to be respected.

6 Hillier (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday in the Skyline when wide no cover throughout and that hard run just told on him late in the piece behind Rivellino. If he can get a better run in transit, he’s quite dangerous against these.

4 Redstone Well (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat for mine. Attempted to lead throughout in the Parramatta Cup at Rosehill and gave a good sight but just felt the pinch late behind Our Anchorage. If he gets some form of front end control here, he’ll run a very positive race.

1 Palmetto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for John Sargent. He comes through the Parramatta Cup when near the speed and in the straight, he looked $1.01 to get past Our Anchorage but had to settle for a narrow second. 2000m is the slight query but he brings the right form.

7 Strathtay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a handy stayer for Chris Waller that shouldn’t be ignored. Needed the run fresh behind Yorkshire over the Randwick mile a few weeks ago. I dare say he’ll need this too and potentially third up in the Manion Cup might be a race he can threaten. But, this race has thinned right out.

Keen to be with 5 Wategos (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Just looked in need of the run fresh in the Southern Cross behind Willaidow before going to Rosehill again where he was nearer the inside and just battled late. I like where he has drawn given he should glide across comfortably, lead and take a power of running down.

2 Berkshire Shadow (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Ciaron Maher trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since The Gong when down the track in an end of prep run behind Gringotts. Moved well enough in a recent Scone trial and he does have an element of class on his side.

8 Lavish Empire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. He was very good in defeat fresh in the Magic Millions Snippets before going to 1300m at Randwick a few weeks back where he looked $1.01 400m out the way he was trucking but he just whacked. For mine, he reminds me of Disneck. Ridden stone cold and launch late. If that eventuates, a win wouldn’t shock.

6 Deal N Dash (Bet Now:  $SP.00) could well be a Derby contender. Time will tell. Only one run as a guide, but that run was an electric debut win at Rosehill, albeit he beat nothing, it was how strong he was that impressed me. He’ll love the rise to 2000m, be strong late…clearly can win, can spank them, but he’s too short.

8 Rumbling Night (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 2000m after resuming over 1500m at Kembla where he just looked in need of the run when down the track behind impressive winner Full Metal Jacket. Like him up in trip and with a more positive ride, will only run well.

5 Autumn Aroha (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will love the 2000m after a win over 1880m at Newcastle last start where she got better as the race went on and was impressive in the run to the line. Up in trip looks ideal, she’ll be strong late and off a win, is a leading contender.

1 Rockola (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to lump the weight but there is a reason for that. He is the class of the field. He resumed over 1200m at Randwick when off speed and loomed to win when presented but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Romeo’s Choice. Like him up to 1300m and clearly drops miles in grade/depth.

2 Canadian Ruler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Matty Dale trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 21 at Warwick Farm when racing over 1400m and didn’t really fire, but was beaten by a potential top class animal, Yorkshire. Resumes without a trial but watch the market.

9 Brazen Crime (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1300m after resuming over 1200m here. He got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was good in defeat. Maps to settle handy and be effective late.
