Magic Millions SA 2YO Classic 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Magic Millions SA 2YO Classic
Race 1. (10:55) Sportsbet Same Race Multi Mdn Plate 1400m
9 Proven Correct (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a three year old who I think could put his hand up for the SA Derby, starting here. He resumes for Andrew Gluyas after a three run Summer prep where he was runner up each time and while he was beaten, he ran very credible races. Been given a break, trialled well at Gawler and 1400m fresh tells me there is some form of intent.
5 Gilded Age (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1400m after racing over 1700m at Gawler last Wednesday where he was near the speed throughout and he battled on really well in defeat. Just no match for a nice horse in Holmes. Back in trip is fine, hard fit and racing well, I think he’s a key chance and threat for sure.
11 Detoron (Bet Now: $SP.00) hasn’t been too bad in two runs for Team Alexander after formerly being with Kris Lees. Latest run was several weeks back at Strathalbyn where she was ridden with a bit more intent and tried hard but just lacked the finale to put them away late in the piece behind Cararada. Break between runs and back up in trip, I’d include her in exotics because the first run for the stable at this track/distance was encouraging.
Race 2. (11:25) Adelaide Galvanising Industries (Bm74) 1200m
1 Jacks On Ice (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to lump the weight but I think class gets him home. He was a dominant winner on the Parks track three weeks ago, leading throughout and giving nothing else a look in, winning comfortably. Has to carry 61kg but maps ideally from the gate and this isn’t a deep race to my eye.
6 Rockstar Meggsy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the key chances. This mare ran in the City Of Marion at Morphettville last time when back near last in the run and did make up ground but was never a factor behind Snapped. Much better suited at this level and this isn’t a deep race overall. She can bounce back.
5 Portration (Bet Now: $SP.00) has home track advantage and commands some level of respect. This guy is three weeks between runs since racing on the Parks track at Morphettville where he was just off the speed throughout and tried his guts out but had no answers late and had to settle for a fourth to Jacks On Ice. His best is good enough and strikes a winnable race.
Race 3. (11:55) Spry Civil Constructions (Rs0ly) 1600m
1 Wild Willy (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks hard to beat against these. Jamie Opperman trained gelding ran two weeks ago at Morphettville where he did a bit of early work to land on speed and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite see it through. That said, he was game in defeat when third to Flossing. If there is petrol left in the tank, he’s clearly going to take beating against these.
8 Solar Mist (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile for the Bain/Taylor camp. This guy ran three weeks ago on the Parks track at Morphettville where he got back in the run and failed to make up any real headway when down the track behind Altruist. Tick over trial last week was strong and his best is more than good enough to give this a shake.
4 Mug’s Game (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look. This mare ran over 2000m at Naracoorte last time in a Country Cup where she was a beaten horse a fair way out and failed to get involved, finishing down the track behind Farooq. Fresh legs and back to the mile, she is a big improver at odds.
Race 4. (12:25) Magic Millions Sa 2Yo Classic 1100m
9 Ad Astra (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented filly I think for Michael Hickmott and with home track advantage, she is one of the hardest to beat. She debuted two weeks ago in the Cinderella where she was wide throughout but had cover and presented to win. Just lacked the change up speed of the eventual winner Herastar, bloused late. Had trialled up super leading in and with good improvement, she is the one for me.
3 Mesrour (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks set for the race. He didn’t have a public trial/jumpout leading into the debut last Saturday on the Parks track where he did a bit wrong early but he picked up and looked the winner. Jsut couldn’t go on with it when second. He’ll take good improvement from that and has the engine under the hood to measure up.
11 Scandalist (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Matty Seyers. She debuted in the Cinderella two weeks back where she was run off her legs early and took a little while to wind into her work but was solid late to the line without threatening behind Herastar. Natural improvement and trained on the track, she is a definite improver.
Race 5. (12:57) Thomas Farms (Bm72) 1400m
8 Toast The Deel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Clarken/O’Shea since racing on the Parks track over 1250m where she got back off the speed and kept chasing but was never really a threat behind Jacks On Ice. Tick over trial was quite good and she will be strong at the end. Leading contender.
9 Billie Bronx (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Peter Hardacre, having not raced since Feb 3 over 1550m on the Parks track when on speed and she was game in defeat but couldn’t quite get there when third to France’s Boy. Fresh legs and back to 1400m, on speed racing style, she rates highly.
3 Ammo Amor (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kristi Evans trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Dec 9 at Morphettville when very one paced over 2500m and looked a tired horse behind Hasta La Fiorente. 1400m is on the short side but has trialled well and this isn’t a deep race. Knockout hope.
Race 6. (13:32) Magic Millions Sa 3Yo & 4Yo Classic 1200m
Keen on 7 Kalasec (Bet Now: $SP.00). He was a dominant winner at Morphettville two back over 1100m before going to the same track/distance two weeks ago where he wanted to duck in behind and threw away any chance he had of winning when close up behind Vexatious Dancer. I think 1200m at Murray Bridge will be ideal and with room to move, he’ll take beating.
6 Sixteen Reasons (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented mare for Clarken/O’Shea that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Sep 30 on the Parks track at Morphettville when a strong winner over 1400m, making it two wins on the bounce. Given a good break and has trialled/jumped out well leading in. One of the hardest to beat but the market will be key.
8 The Journo (Bet Now: $SP.00) is lightly raced and seemingly has progression. This guy comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Feb 14 when a strong maiden winner at Gawler, giving them a start and a beating in a sharp display. Tick over trial was good and if the big gun are off their game, I think he’s dangerous.
Race 7. (14:07) Beyond Ink (Bm66) 1000m
5 Clarence (Bet Now: $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for David Jolly. Resumed with a bang when winning over 900m here, leading throughout and giving nothing else a look in, winning comfortably. The mini break between runs should be fine, he has a good racing style and enormous upside. Likeable.
7 Storyteller (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Michael Hickmott trained three year old that resumes. This guy did a solid job in his first prep, though it was an end of prep run when down the track behind Bristler. Trialled well enough at Gawler to my eye and with home track advantage, I think watch the market.
10 Little Rich Boy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Grant Young. Tough winner here three back before a down the track effort at Morphettville Parks before going to the course proper a week later when ridden with intent and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get the win when second to Emerald Court. Good record at Murray Bridge, he’s in the mix for sure.
Race 8. (14:42) Marshall & Brougham (Bm68) 1800m
2 Lake’s Folly (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1400m on the Parks track where he got back off the speed and took a little while to wind into his work but he was good late in the piece behind Tapinforpar. Gets in very well after the claim, hard fit and up to 1800m, he appeals.
6 Crown Harmonium (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing really well for Kelvin Bourke and rates highly. This mare ran over the mile at Terang last time where she got back off the speed and did make up headway but was never really threatening behind Luv The Bool but the effort was more than sound. She should be around the mark against these.
8 Victory Bandit (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the knockout hopes. Team Jaensch trained gelding that ran over 1400m on the Parks track a few back off a break. He got a fair way out of his ground but I really liked the way he found the line late in the piece. Fitter and up in trip, if he can settle closer in the run, he’s dangerous.
Race 9. (15:17) Bridge Carpet Court Community Cup (64) 1400m
14 Myrtle Creek (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Bain/Taylor trained mare that comes here four weeks between runs since racing over 1500m at Morphettville where she tried hard from off the speed but couldn’t quite get there and had to settle for a well held second to Titan Of Choice. The break between runs should be fine and this isn’t a deep contest on paper.
15 Alainge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction for Stuart Padman. She has been freshened up since making it two wins on the bounce when a strong winner at Morphettville on Dec 30. Given a spell, trialled up nicely in readiness for her return…could she put her hand up for the Carnival as an Oaks contender?
2 Capricorn Ridge (Bet Now: $SP.00) has had a couple of runs at 1200m to start the prep and he’s racing like he will appreciate a rise to 1400m. The latest run was a few weeks back over 1200m at Morphettville, his first run in several weeks, and he was solid late without threatening, but his late splits were more than encouraging. Like him up in trip and with a more positive steer, he’s dangerous.
