10 Trip The Light (Bet Now: $4.40) looks a very new and raw customer to the racing game, but I think she has ability. Jumped very well in her trial here on Monday to get up outside the speed before wanting to hang out on the turn. Balanced up and under her own steam ran a narrow second. Stable has had a good start to the season with their juveniles so I’ll be in her corner.

Danger

7 Rising Tycoon (Bet Now: $5.50) is a Written Tycoon filly on debut for the Tony Gollan stable. This girl trialled on Monday here over the 840m and led all the way under Jim Byrne in one of the quicker heats of the morning. She looked a real professional, doing everything right on speed and went on to win under a hold. Leading chance.

Long Shot

9 Starfilly (Bet Now: $7.50) is the one with race experience and that is such a big tick in these early 2YO races. She debuted over 1000m on her home track at the Sunny Coast where she was back off the speed in the run and tried hard, but couldn’t quite get there when third to The Silver Lady. Has the run under the belt and up in trip should suit.

All you can do is win and that is what 10 The Wild One (Bet Now: $4.60) has done this time in, winning 2/2. Gave them a spanking first up to break the maiden status at Grafton before going to Ipswich where he landed on speed again and had to show some ticker to fend them off but did and was too tough in winning. Reckon this trip sees him out, but this track hasn’t been used in several weeks for a Saturday meeting, and dry ground, on speed will be the spot to be.

Danger

8 Cailini (Bet Now: $4.80) is bursting to win a race in town and I think she gets a great chance here. Ran at Eagle Farm three weeks ago where she got a sweet sit just off the speed and hit the front, looking home, but was nabbed near the peg by stablemate Shalwa. Now back to a very weak 68 race, she does look very well placed and will prove hard to beat. Happy to give her respect.

Long Shot

3 Mick The Hat (Bet Now: $4.50) is a handy sprinter who had his first run for the Sears camp over 900m at the Gold Coast and was pretty impressive in sitting on speed and kicking clear late to win in good style. Has some decent form from NSW when trained by Brett Cavanough and the blinkers go on for this assignment. Just a matter of where he gets to in the run from the draw.

Race 3. (13:23) Big Screen On The Green (c3) 1600m

If he can tick the 1600m box, I think 3 Soxagon (Bet Now: $1.30) wins. The Currie stable is slowly starting to dip their toe into Saturday grade and this horse is becoming one of the more in form runners for them. Spanked them over 1200m at the Sunny Coast two back before stepping up to 1400m at Eagle Farm when ridden positively and he was just far too good for them. Up to the mile is the only query. Otherwise he wins.

Danger

11 Red Stina (Bet Now: $4.40) has to get another chance I think. Just missed out on the win first up when second to Time To Play before racing over the mile at Eagle Farm two weeks ago where she got back in the run and was never really in the hunt in a disappointing performance. If she runs up to the first up effort, with the claim for Thornton, she’s hard to beat.

Long Shot

5 Cinnamon Missile (Bet Now: $11.00) looks suited up to the mile for Matty Dunn. I was somewhat disappointed with his effort last time out over 1350m here, but watching the replay, he just had too much to do from where he was and he couldn’t sustain it to the line. He’s going well I reckon. Not sure he beats Soxagon, but a small field/soft gate set up is ideal and he can run top three.

Race 4. (14:03) Society Roku Gin Nye Party (c6) 1350m

5 Macewen (Bet Now: $1.75) can go right on with it now. He’s won his past two in sharp fashion, both coming over 1200m at Eagle Farm, with the latest coming two weeks ago when just off the speed before Nothdurft gave him clear air early on in the straight and once he balanced up, he put them away and was impressive. Up to 1350m looks ideal and finds a winnable race.

Danger

2 Shogun Sun (Bet Now: $3.70) looks the only real threat. He resumed over 1200m two weeks ago at Eagle Farm and found the line pretty well in defeat I thought behind the flying Tambo’s Mate. Up to 1350m is a big tick and Jim Byrne does ride this horse very well so I like that jockey booking and he gets run of the race from the barrier. Price gap looks a tad much between he and the fav.

Long Shot

4 Sparky Lad (Bet Now: $4.80) can bounce back. He ran over 1400m at Eagle Farm three weeks ago when wide no cover for the trip and couldn’t quite finish it off behind Hanover Square in a race which didn’t look strong on paper and that’s how it panned out in the end. If he can get better luck this time around, he’ll run a positive race.

Race 5. (14:43) Marty Baker Turns 40 Hcp 1350m

Going with sustained speed in the shape of 2 Shooting Love (Bet Now: $2.20) for the Currie stable. This filly is flying at the moment. Knuckled down strongly to win two back over 1100m at Toowoomba before going to the Gold Coast two weeks ago when on speed throughout and when clicked up by Taylor Marshall, she scooted right away and gave her rivals a spanking. The way she attacked the line there, 1350m should be fine.

Danger

3 Scathing (Bet Now: $3.30) does look the key and perhaps only threat to Shooting Love. It’ll be interesting to see what Huxtable does from gate one, whether he holds the lead or hands up and gets the drag up behind Shooting Love. The last start effort when second to Lashoni was good and that horse franked that form impressively on Tuesday.

Long Shot

6 Sizzling Babe (Bet Now: $126.00) is one I wouldn’t 100% dismiss. She resumed at this track/distance when restrained something fierce and just had nothing left for the straight at all behind Purroni in a total forgive. Tempo should be more genuine this time around and she showed as a 2YO that she can measure up in town.

Third up from a break, 12 Power Rush (Bet Now: $5.50) should just about be ready fitness wise for Kris Lees. Didn’t have much luck first up at Wyong behind Eveleigh before going to Scone where she had the good run behind the speed and seemed to have her chance, but battled away pretty well in defeat behind The Crimson Idol, who does look talented, so respecting that form in a winnable race.

Danger

10 Rabbit Hunter (Bet Now: $3.70) is racing really well this time in for Stuart Kendrick and is hard to beat. Finished best in a tight go to win two back at the Sunny Coast over 1000m before racing at the same track/distance and beating all bar Love Squirrels, who was too good. Lone run at this track/distance saw him win and overall, this isn’t an overly strong race.

Long Shot

5 Paper Trade (Bet Now: $6.50) is second up here for the Hulbert team and can improve for sure. Just found the 900m at the Gold Coast just a touch sharp fresh but found the line well enough in defeat behind Mick The Hat, himself with some good form around him, so that reads well enough for this kind of race and like him up to 1000m. Knockout chance at odds.

Hard to get away from 3 Fighting Teo (Bet Now: $3.60) for Kevin Kemp. Thought he was very good without luck fresh behind Rhyme Nor Rhythm before stepping up to 1800m where he had the dream run in transit and when asked for the effort by Luke Tarrant, he went through his gears and won well, with something in hand. Bit more depth here, but he’s got a stack of upside.

Danger

1 Kubis (Bet Now: $4.60) is racing really well for Rob Heathcoate. He comes through the Fighting Teo race from a fortnight back against Eagle Farm when attempting to lead all the way and gave a good kick, but was just no match late for the eventual winner. He was a few weeks between runs and coming back in trip, so back up in trip, and landing on speed without spending petrol tickets, he’s hard to beat.

Long Shot

4 Bargannon (Bet Now: $6.50) is an unknown for David Vandyke I feel. He looks to have come back well, but just not sure about him at 2000m, but you don’t know til they try. His last start win came over the mile at Eagle Farm two weeks ago and was pretty good I thought. He was under pressure and a bit one paced, but kept finding and on the line was strongest. Has upside and stable is going well at the moment.

9 Trevelyan (Bet Now: $3.00) for me. The Meagher stable trains this handy four year old, who has been freshened up. He hasn’t raced since September 21 over 1800m at Eagle Farm when wide no cover for the trip and trying hard when taking the front but was no match late for Polemic, who had the drop on him and was too good. Freshened up and his trial on Monday was quite good.

Danger

You’d say this is just about D-Day for 13 Barefoot (Bet Now: $5.50). Tempo was against her first up at Doomben behind Sky Lake but the run at Eagle Farm three weeks ago was a bit plain. Was off the bit on the turn and seemingly going nowhere but picked up late and worked to the line alright without threatening. Her best sees her win this…but she’s running out of chances.

Long Shot

11 Le Mattan (Bet Now: $13.00) is having a good prep for Brian Smith. Was 1400m-1800m last start at the Gold Coast when just off the speed and he loomed to win, but the quick rise in trip probably just beat him in the end when second to Own Sweet Way. Has that hard run under the belt now, so like him back to 1600m. Doubt he has the class to win but one for multiples.

Back Me

8 Golden Mean (Bet Now: $2.90) does seem to be an effective horse with fresh legs, so keen to see her here four weeks between runs. Last raced over 1200m at Eagle Farm over 1200m where Nothdurft gave the mare a peach of a steer just off the speed and loomed to win but just found Time To Play too good, just. Fresh legs I like with her…the unknown is the rise to 1350m.

Danger

7 Maslow (Bet Now: $4.80) is a progressive son of Lonhro for the Edmonds camp that has been pretty good this time in. Won first up at Ipswich before repeating the dose at the Sunny Coast. Then raced at Eagle Farm weeks ago when a little flat footed when the sprint went on but picked up and was good late when a close up fourth to Dreamreacher. Hard to beat here I suspect.

Long Shot

5 Dreamtimer (Bet Now: $5.50) is the interesting one. Kevin Kemp trained gelding who is six weeks between runs after racing over the mile at Doomben when off the speed and trying hard, but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to a then in for Tatcee. Fresh and back in trip looks a good recipe for him…the knock is that he has let the punters down a few times.

Race 10. (18:15) Tab Keith Noud Quality 1200m

Back Me

Solid edition of the Keith Noud. 14 Tambo’s Mate (Bet Now: $3.30) is a really progressive galloper for Stuart Kendrick and I’m confident he can measure up here. This bloke has won his past two, both over 1200m at Eagle Farm, the latest coming two weeks ago when just off the speed before angling into clear and though taking a stride or two to wind into his work, he put them away and won impressively, again. Confident he runs well.

Danger

Class will carry 3 Outback Barbie (Bet Now: $3.50) a long way towards victory. This mare is first up after racing in the big races during the Brisbane Winter where she was outclassed, but for the most part, was far from disgraced. This is one of the easier races she has contested in some time and her trials in readiness for her return have been good. Hard to beat here.

Long Shot

Would prefer 16 Sharpe Hussler (Bet Now: $35.00) at 1000m-1100m, but he’s flying. Just needed the run behind Boomwaa two back before racing over 1000m at Eagle Farm two weeks ago when produced outstanding late splits and just missing out on the win when beaten narrowly by Tarzan. 1200m at this level I reckon will see him out, but a dry track and fast speed helps his cause.
