Race 1. (12:57) Sportsbet Jockey Watch Hcp 1050m
1 La Roux (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a little rocket for Philip Stokes. 2/2 to start her career in SA where she has been simply too good for them, winning impressively and running decent time in each win. She looks clearly the best juvenile in SA and should be taking care of these.
8 Macclesfield (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key chance. She ran third here a fortnight back behind Gin Spirit when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a pretty good effort in defeat behind the Team Hayes filly. Has the hard race experience/fitness under the belt and commands respect against these.
2 Dampen (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks like a juvenile that has an engine under the hood. He ran behind La Roux on Boxing Day where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept making headway and was good in defeat behind La Roux. He’ll spot them a start and should be strong late.
Race 2. (13:32) The Fotobase Group (Bm78) 1600m
7 Tipsy Vixen (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Team Jolly. She ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when off speed and kept chasing in a good effort in defeat when second to Hasseltoff. Hard to knock the way she is racing. Just needs to put a win on the board and confident she can here.
8 Morty (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned really well for Team Cahill and is a key threat after resuming at Strathalbyn when wide no cover on speed but he kept on and was really good in defeat behind Super Alana. Fitter and up in trip, he appeals.
4 France’s Boy (Bet Now: $SP.00) likely leads this field up and will give a decent sight, as seen two weeks back behind Hasseltoff but that early burn just told on him late in the piece when down the track. If he leads and gets front end control, he’ll run a bold race.
Race 3. (14:07) O'brien's Wholesale Meats (Bm64) 1050m
4 Gold Spirit (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat off the back of a massive first up effort at Murray Bridge when doing a stack of work to lead and he gave a very strong kick but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Tick over trial was sharp and if he gets a more economical run on speed, he takes beating.
9 Palm Of Jumeirah (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. She was wide with cover three weeks ago at Murray Bridge when wide with cover before angling wider and loomed to win but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Angel Torque. Has that run under the belt and I do think 1050m at Morphettville is more kind vs 1100m at Murray Bridge.
7 Purfect Line (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous here. Close up in defeat two back behind Angel Torque at Murray Bridge before going to Strathalbyn on Australia Day when off speed and chased strongly when a close up fourth to Dodd. If within range, he has the finale to be quite dangerous.
Race 4. (14:42) Sportsbet (Bm90) 1100m
4 Klabel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat. He resumed in the Durbridge a fortnight back when near the speed throughout and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. That said, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind impressive winner Prairie Flower. Good second up record and back to benchmark grade, he appeals.
8 The Great Baby (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Francis/Kent, having not raced since Dec 28 over 1050m here when ridden with intent to land on speed and he was there to win but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Divine Glory. Tick over trial win was sharp and ridden with cover, he can be more effective.
7 Divine Glory (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1000m on the Parks track where she got a fair way out of her ground but I did like the way she finished her race off in defeat behind Pure Bliss. She’ll spot them a start but be strong at the end.
Race 5. (15:17) Ennio International Spring Net Hcp (C2) 1600m
9 Pelevecchio (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a nice horse on the up for Phillip Stokes and does look the one to beat off the back of a second over 1400m at Murray Bridge three weeks ago when off speed and worked home well late in the piece behind Chipson. Like her up to the mile and strikes a very winnable race.
1 Swycho (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Michael Hickmott since racing over 1400m at Murray Bridge when attempting to lead throughout and giving a decent kick from the front but just couldn’t quite finish the job behind Chipson. Fitter and up in trip, she commands respect.
5 Bona Fide Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat for Richards/Moyle. He ran two weeks ago here when off speed and held up at times but worked home with purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Runaway Statement. He’s found positive form now and he can go on with it.
Race 6. (15:52) Adelaide Galvanising Industries Hcp (68) 1200m
4 Declared (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for David Jolly after racing last Saturday on the Parks track. He got tucked in behind the speed and looked to be going quite well before being clicked up and didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight so forgive and forget. Hard fit now and with a more patient steer, he takes beating.
7 Super Alana (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form again and she can go on with it. She ran on Strathalbyn Cup Day where she looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted to win and win well. Has run well in town before and strikes a winnable race here for mine.
1 Pompeii Empire (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kym Healy trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Sep 14 when placing at a Non TAB meeting at Bedourie, and yes, I have never heard of that place. But, he is a proven metro performer and looks to have jumped out well for the return.
Race 7. (16:27) Sportsbet Premier's Plate 2000m
3 Beltoro (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Sandown…well I say raced, but it was basically a barrier trial. They absolutely walked and dashed in front, so the fact he closed off like he did to run second to First Immortal, the run was full of merit. Back to 2000m is fine, hard fit and in form, rates highly.
8 Divine Fire (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty for Stephen Theodore that will land on speed and take running down, as seen here a fortnight back and tried her guts out but just couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Hasseltoff. Good racing style and hard to knock the way she’s racing.
2 Hasta La War (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came in the Strathalbyn Cup where he looked in need of the run and that’s how it panned out when down the track behind surprise winner Stormsarrived. He might want another and a further rise in trip, but he has class on his side and it will carry him a long way.
Race 8. (17:07) Skycity Hcp (66) 1800m
3 Rabtat (Bet Now: $SP.00) is two weeks between runs for Michael Hickmott after racing on the course proper here. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. He’s hard fit, in form and is more than good enough to take this out.
9 Cours Vite (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Gotta Go Guru race from three weeks back at Murray Bridge mentioned above. He got back off the speed and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line in a pretty good effort in defeat. One for exotics.
7 Lomax (Bet Now: $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but can launch late. He ran two weeks back when tailed off last in the run and while he was never threatening, he did close off well late and his late splits were solid. If he can settle closer and get a drag into the race, he’s a threat for sure.
Race 9. (17:48) Grand Syndicates (Bm66) 1050m
4 Clarence (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take beating for Clarken/O’Shea off the back of an electric first up win here, giving them a start and an absolute beating from the back in a super return. Can only see upside/improvement, he’s the one they have to beat.
1 Yasuke (Bet Now: $SP.00) has had two runs for Clarken/O’Shea and is one of the hardest to beat here off the back of a strong second here two weeks ago behind stablemate Clarence where he got back and worked home strongly but had no answers late. Hard fit, he’ll get a drag into the race and be effective late.
5 The Magistrate (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect. Matty Seyers trained gelding that ran in a 955m at The Valley where he didn’t get the clearest of paths and while he was never really a winning threat, I thought he was entitled to finish a touch closer. Back to SA, he lands near the front and will run well.
