Racing returns to the Parks track at Morphettville this Saturday for a strong eight race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:43) : Projection Graphics Plate 1000m:
Back Me: 8 Roomooz (Bet Now: $1.75) is a beautifully bred filly that is on debut here for the Tony McEvoy yard. On breeding alone, she has to be respected, but her trials at Flemington have been solid enough to my eye to suggest she will be competitive here. Market suggests she will bolt in so I will go her way.
Big Danger: 4 Split Lip (Bet Now: $6.50) had late support in the market when debuting in a two year old race at Gawler (Metro) two weeks ago where she sat off the speed and tried hard but was no match for Aljawzaa. Should take good improvement off that and this doesn’t appear to be the strongest juvenile race going.
Long Shot: 7 Just Foxing (Bet Now: $31.00) is a Foxwedge filly that debuts for the astute Paul Rocke stable at Mornington. Hasn’t had a public trial but I am sure she would have had a jump out or two, and the fact that the stable has sent her away for the debut suggests she may have ability. Creighton rides Rocke horses very well and outside the top tip, this is a thin race.
Race Two (14:18) : Speedy Demolition Handicap 1250m:
Back Me: 5 Bewildering (Bet Now: $4.60) looked to trial really well at Tatura prior to resuming in a strong maiden at Gawler (Metro) where she was given a lovely steer just off the pace by Jake Duffy and once he presented the filly clear air, gee she let down hard and won quite impressively. Confident she can measure up here.
Big Danger: 2 Vikings Reward (Bet Now: $3.30) produced a brilliant finishing burst nearer the inside to win here in sharp fashion on debut before racing on the course proper on Boxing Day where he again dashed near the fence and looked home but was nabbed late by Swipe Me Right. Back on the Parks track and small field will aid his cause.
Long Shot: 7 Dream Starlet (Bet Now: $26.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over 1200m on the course proper last Saturday where she surprisingly showed pretty good early toe to lead and that just backfired because she went backwards soon after straightening. Much better with cover I think, as we saw here on debut, so she is a sharp improver for mine with these tactics used.
Race Three (14:58) : UBET Handicap 1250m:
Back Me: 5 Boggoms (Bet Now: $2.35) is on the seven day turnaround after racing over 1200m last Saturday on the course proper where I thought he was very good in defeat behind Strategic Demand given that horse had the suck run behind and pounced whereas Boggoms had to come wide and out wide last week was the no go zone. He has run well on the seven day back up previously, so he is on top.
Big Danger: 2 Mio Dio (Bet Now: $2.10) has been one of the real finds of the Adelaide Spring/Summer who comes here off the back of a fifth in the Christmas Handicap on Boxing Day behind Casino Wizard and his effort in defeat was sound. This looks a decent drop in depth and he has a fab record on the Parks track.
Long Shot: 4 Justify That (Bet Now: $16.00) is struggling a touch for form this time in, but he certainly finds a winnable race if he finds his best form. He ran at Gawler (Metro) a fortnight back where he sat near the speed and was okay without setting the world on fire behind the well backed Tildy Lad. Great record here and maps well.
Race Four (15:28) : Happy Birthday Fred Moore Handicap (70) 1550m:
Back Me: 4 Red Menace (Bet Now: $14.00) is a consistent galloper from the provincials who comes to town after racing at Bordertown last start where he sat back near last in the run and closed for strongly late to run second to Holy Holy. Finds a very winnable city race here and rates highly.
Big Danger: 1 Mullinger Lane (Bet Now: $2.60) is a horse in super form this time in. He has won his past two, the latest coming over the mile on the course proper where he led all the way under Eran Boyd and found plenty when challenged to win. His record on the Parks track is horrible but that form has held up with the runner up winning last Saturday.
Long Shot: 7 Bossa Nova (Bet Now: $5.00) had good support at odds when racing on Boxing Day and the market support was justified as he finished off his race with real purpose from near last to run third to Chondra, beaten just over a length. That was his first run in five weeks, so he should have upside.
Race Five (16:08) : Congratulations Clare & Damien Handicap (82) 1400m:
Back Me: 8 Battle Brewing (Bet Now: $3.40) is a consistent type for the MacDonald/Gluyas yard who is never far away from the thick end of the prize. He ran over 1250m here three weeks back where he sat off the pace and chased hard all the way when second to Boggoms, who ran well last Saturday. Up to 1400m looks ideal and shapes up as one of the hardest to beat.
Big Danger: 3 Ample On Offa (Bet Now: $4.40) had a charmed run just off the speed when racing over this track/distance three weeks back when given a lovely steer by Jamie Kah and she pounced on the leaders at the right time to draw clear and comfortably hold her rivals at bay. Claim for Finnegan here helps, draws well again and should take some beating.
Long Shot: 5 Last Bullet (Bet Now: $12.00) drops back in trip after racing over the mile on the course proper last time out where like most, those out the back had no chance of picking them up given the race was dominated by those near the speed. Got some solid form on the Parks track and this is a drop in depth.
Race Six (16:48) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap Handicap (82) 2250m:
Back Me: 5 Gallic Chieftain, (Bet Now: $1.75) so far, is the best bet of the year. I’ll be stunned if he gets rolled here. Bolted up two back on Pakenham Cup Day in a hot form race before going to Flemington and beating all bar Flying Light, who won on New Years Day. Suited up to 2250m and this is a very thin race. Should be winning.
Big Danger: 10 Almahstique (Bet Now: $13.00) is the horse with upside here. Tony McEvoy trained stayer that ran over 2100m at Gawler (Metro) last time out where he was off the bit a long way out and couldn’t really pick up until the final 150m when surging late to run second to Zerprise Journey. Extra 150m is a tick and he should be in the finish somewhere.
Long Shot: 8 Nisos (Bet Now: $16.00) is struggling a bit to find winning form but is never far away from the action. He ran over 2500m on the course proper on Boxing Day and stuck to the task quite well without much luck in the straight when a close up fourth to Majestic Moment. Got a really good record on the Parks track and should run well.
Race Seven (17:28) : Quayclean Handicap (70) 1000m:
Back Me: 2 Brockhoff (Bet Now: $2.70) should just make absolute meat mince of these if he brings anything near his best. Formerly with Ciaron Maher and did show glimpses of Stakes class material but couldn’t quite go on with it during the Melbourne Spring. Just needs normal luck to put a margin on these I think.
Big Danger: 5 Duckworth (Bet Now: $4.00) had been a real tease for a few runs this time in but he found his right race here last start and was ridden with a fair bit of confidence in the run, and duly saluted. Has to back it up but now he has that winning feeling, perhaps he can go right on with it.
Long Shot: 13 Martine (Bet Now: $4.00) is a talented mare that resumes for Tony McEvoy. She raced twice during the early part of the Spring and was quite dynamic in both runs, winning one and running second in the other. No trials leading in, but she does sprint well fresh and stable is low flying.
Race Eight (18:05) : MAC: STOP DRUG DRIVING Handicap (64) 1300m:
Back Me: 9 All Eights (Bet Now: $4.50) resumed over 1200m on the course proper a tick over three weeks back where he started odds on off the back of some very good efforts in stronger races last prep but unfortunately for his backers, he didn’t get much room in the straight and wasn’t really allowed to show his best when fifth to Riccone. Last prep he had form around Cavaloce and Golden Century. That’s good enough for this race.
Big Danger: 14 Saturday Affair (Bet Now: $5.00) is a former South Australian/Victorian now under the care of Will Clarken and is the big watch here. She resumed on Wodonga Cup Day and was just fair without being great behind Uncle Tiger in a race where the form has been okay. Clarken has a great record with tried horses, and Kah rides. Don’t be shocked to see money for this mare.
Long Shot: 7 Celestial Story (Bet Now: $18.00) had a quiet trial here prior to resuming at Gawler (Metro) a fortnight ago where he got a long way back in the run and couldn’t come on when finishing down the track behind Social Media. That form has already been franked via Alaskan Jade and this gelding did run a couple of handy races on this track last prep which had far more depth than what he faces here.
