7/3/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

Nine races will be run and won at Eagle Farm on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Fitter and up to 1800m, I’m keen here on the Kris Lees trained 3 Admiral Jello (Bet Now: $10.00). Stable in recent months has been going like a busted in QLD but they found form last Saturday with a double and I think this horse can continue on from that. He ran fourth to Akage a fortnight ago over the mile here and was good in defeat, just lacking the change up speed. Should take some beating here.

Les Kelly has 5 The Kingdom (Bet Now: $1.85) absolutely flying this time in, winning three on the bounce. Latest of these wins came three weeks ago over this track/distance when ridden an absolute treat by Adin Thompson, riding the patient race on the horse, who was a query at the trip prior, and he timed the run to perfection. Think he can measure up here.

I’m including 4 Savwell (Bet Now: $4.00) but gee he’s running out of chances. Third up from a break for David Vandyke so should be close to peak fitness, but he has let down punters in both runs back from a break, the latest behind Akage when given every chance. Lacking that turn of foot to win so perhaps up to 1800m will help his cause.

Can make a case here for 2 Fortification (Bet Now: $14.00) at odds. Team Edmonds trains this former Gwenda Markwell gelding, who had trialled up enormous prior to resuming here three weeks ago when wide throughout yet kept finding the line and was very good in defeat behind Stampe, who was good last Saturday, so the form reads well, and fitter, I think he’ll run well.

12 Ingear (Bet Now: $1.70) looks the likely winner here for Tony Gollan. This filly was heavily backed when racing over 1200m here three weeks ago and really, after 200m it was race over. She got control in front and she gave nothing else a look in. She was dominant and I don’t see the rise to 1300m being an issue. Just has to hold her form to win again. Just the gate is turning me off.

13 Joymaker (Bet Now: $23.00) is a Casino Prince mare for Kelly Schweida that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since October 19 over the mile here when solid in defeat behind the Group l runner up Dawson Diva. She’s a mare who can sprint well fresh, draws a soft gate and her two trials leading in have been decent enough to the eye.

Just has to hold her current form and 1 Bellissimi Amici (Bet Now: $2.90) wins again I feel. Progressive filly for Rob Heathcoate that comes here off the back of a strong win, albeit against four rivals, at this track/distance two weeks ago. Looked in a bit of trouble at the top of the straight but once she properly balanced up, she put them away and was impressive. Tempo, you’d like to think, will be more genuine, which will suit her better.

3 Apache Chase (Bet Now: $8.50) can be a definite improver here. Debuted at this track/distance a fortnight back when hard in the market and looked to go about his business quite nicely in front. Just couldn’t quite see it through and battled late to run fourth. Improvement from start one to start two can’t be measured really, but you’d like to assume he will take good improvement.

6 Mishani Epic (Bet Now: $16.00) is a son of Real Saga for Les Ross that resumed in a 2YO maiden at the Doomben midweeks back on Feb 19 where he just got too far back in the run and was never a factor behind impressive winner Plutocrat. Think up in trip on a bigger track will definitely help his cause and stable has been pretty good this season with their juveniles.

If 8 Ruuca (Bet Now: $1.45) is going to head to Sydney for the Championships, he has to be putting this field away and am confident he can. Really talented son of Rubick for Team Edmonds that created such an impression during the Spring. Showed an electric turn of foot to win at Moonee Valley on Manikato Night before backing up in the Coolmore where he was outclassed behind Exceedance. Loved the recent trial and you’d like to think he’ll take care of these.

Fast run 1000m races look the go in life for 4 Missile Archer (Bet Now: $7.00), especially if last start is a guide. Back to 1000m from 1200m last start at the Sunny Coast when sitting back off a fast speed before presenting wide on the turn and she let down with a powerful finishing burst to win impressively. Not she beats Ruuca, but she does have race fitness on her side.

9 Cailini (Bet Now: $11.00) is a daughter of Smart Missile resuming for Tony Gollan and I think she can be dangerous here. Hasn’t raced since December 20 at the Sunny Coast when back and wide throughout, but stuck on okay in defeat behind Let’s Cheer Again. She saves her best for when she has fresh legs and looked pretty good in a recent trial.

Going the way of the Kelly Doughty trained 2 Benfica Princess (Bet Now: $19.00). This mare ran over 1400m here two weeks ago in a real on speed dominated affair won by Peppi La Few and I liked the way this mare finished her race off behind the dominant winner. Last couple of runs have been at 1400m and I think she’s now looking for the mile.

I think back to 1600m will suit 7 Slow Hands (Bet Now: $3.50). Ran over 1800m here three weeks ago when afforded a lovely ride just off the speed, was presented to win in the straight and looked home, but was nabbed near the peg by The Kingdom. Back to 1600m I like for this gelding and should prove hard to beat.

Up in trip is a big tick for 3 Galtero (Bet Now: $12.00). Looked in need of the run first up over 1400m here behind Akage before remaining at the trip next time out and wasn’t beaten far by Sister Patti. He’s looking for further, which he gets here and his record at the mile is very good. Is a third up winner too, so there’s a bit to like.

Matty Smith has a 43% winning S/R last 12 months when bringing horses to Queensland, so when he comes here, he’s here to win, and I think 7 Penshurst (Bet Now: $5.00) can win. He resumed over 1900m at Canterbury and while he was fence in run, which has been gold at those night meetings, he still found the line really well regardless in a good return behind an in form Tochi. He’s got enormous upside compared to most here and am keen on his chances.

1 Quality Seeker (Bet Now: $1.95) can win, clearly, but I just can’t back him at the likely short odds given he can be really hit and miss. He was awful two back at the Valley behind Yulong Knight, then came to this track/distance two weeks ago and won like it was a barrier trial. Been up a fair while, but a repeat effort of last time and he’ll go close.

6 Dream Builder (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Marcus Wilson trained stayer who does look a leading chance here. Comes through the Quality Seeker race from two weeks ago over this track/distance where the winner got an absolute picnic, making it near impossible for anything from behind to win. He actually wasn’t too bad in defeat I thought in running third. Hard to beat I’d suggest.

He’s also accepted for the Sunny Coast on Friday but with Emerald Kingdom out, I hope Marcus Wilson runs 8 Don’t Leave Me Out (Bet Now: $7.50) here. First run for the stable came two weeks ago over 1100m at the Gold Coast and gee he was impressive in winning and smashed the clock relative to the day. He can roll forward, sit near the speed and prove very hard to beat.

3 Epic Girl (Bet Now: $2.70) is a talented mare for Chris Anderson who should have some improvement left in the tank. Had a freshen up after her run on January 4 and ran two weeks ago over 1000m here where she got every chance behind the speed but couldn’t quite reel in Boom Chicka Boom. Mind you, that horse ran a tick over 33 for the final 600m so those behind were always going to struggle given that final sectional. Fitter, up to 1200m, she appeals.

5 Boomtown Lass (Bet Now: $4.80) is a handy mare who was far from disgraced in the QTIS race on Magic Millions Day before being freshened up and racing at this track/distance two weeks ago where she loomed to win alongside Emerald Kingdom but couldn’t quite see it through. Has that run under the belt now, which should hold her in good stead.

6 Emerald Kingdom (Bet Now: $1.55) does have the makings of being a Winter Carnival horse so I think he can continue his winning ways here. He made it five on end when winning over 1200m here two weeks ago, near the speed throughout and was never really going to get beat despite the final margin being three quarters. Just has to hold his form.

5 Fortensky (Bet Now: $19.00) can be a bit hit and miss at times but his best is clearly good enough to win here. Good first up behind Mishani El Lobo before racing a touch flat second up when midfield behind Snitch. Third up now, so he should be getting close to peak fitness. The potential knock with is that on form, he saves his best for Doomben.

10 Boom Boom Epic (Bet Now: $41.00) can be an improver here at odds. Chris Anderson trains this mare, who resumed in the Peppi La Few race from two weeks ago over 1400m here and really, didn’t fire a shot at all after getting back in the run in what was a disappointing. She’s better than that, so with the run under the belt, expecting improvement.

2 Star Of Michelin (Bet Now: $3.00) has to be the one to beat here. Quality three year old for Stuart Kendrick that resumed over 1400m here a few weeks ago, a trip clearly short of his best, but he charged home late when a narrow second to Baroda and clocked the best late splits of the race. If this was 1600m, he’d be bet of the month. Just remaining at 1400m is the only knock.

1 Naval Strike (Bet Now: $14.00) is a Kevin Kemp trained gelding that was somewhat unwanted in betting when racing at this track/distance two weeks ago but with the light weight and decent speed in front, he really charged to the line late and nabbed the well performed Profit right on the peg. If he can hold that form here, he can win again. Just won’t be getting $41.

12 Red Bloom (Bet Now: $12.00) can add some value to exotics. She attempted to lead all the way at this track/distance two weeks ago and tried hard, but couldn’t quite see it through when fifth to Naval Strike. Think she’ll be more effective when ridden with cover so if that can eventuate here, I think she’ll run a much improved race.

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 8 Ruuca

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 2 Benfica Princess
