7/2/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Caulfield, Autumn Stakes day

7 Global Eclipse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. That win came at Pakenham when a dominant winner over this trip, getting better as the race went on. He’s always shown good talent and now his confidence is up, he clearly appeals.

3 Ambassadorial (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran second to Fiorenot at Flemington a few weeks back and I think you can make a case to say that with a clear path, instead of being veered off in the straight, he wins. He’s back on track I think and rates highly.

2 Highland Bling (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is first up for Phillip Stokes, I dare say with eyes towards the Adelaide Cup. He resumes, having not raced since Oct 3 when placing over 3000m at The Valley, trying hard but couldn’t quite get there. He’ll spot them a start but be strong late.

1 Berkeley Square (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the class of the field and I’ll bank on that class getting him home. He ran three weeks ago at Flemington where he was tardy away, got back to near last and was good late without threatening. He’ll be stronger than most late and the small field means he won’t be far away.

3 Suntora (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won like Winx a fortnight back at this track/distance. She got the suck run in behind the speed before angling clear and she made an absolute mess of them. Harder here, career peak last time…does she regress or maintain?

4 Make It Sweet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran a ripping second in the VOBIS Gold Reef a few weeks back. She was kept relatively safe in betting and did try hard but had to settle for a second to Merrigold. Bursting to win and commands respect against these.

3 Guest House (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be winning this if indeed he’s top seed for the big one in two weeks. He debuted with an electric win at Cranbourne, sitting wide throughout but he was arrogant the way he went about it. Jumped out super since, he looks a good colt and should be taking care of these. Can mark him $1.50, maybe shorter.

6 High Alert (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should have won the Preview two weeks back. How he stayed on his feet, no idea, but he balanced up and charged late. Is that race suspect? I think yes, but he’s in a good camp and has good upside to come.

1 Eurocanto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Per Incanto colt for Team Hayes that has been kept on ice since Oct 4 when winning the Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington, knuckling down with purpose late to win and win well. He has been tuned up with a couple of jumpouts, I say he is here to play.

I really like 3 Streisand (Bet Now:  $SP.00) here. She resumed in the Preview where she got too far back on a day where up/in was gold. She was never threatening but I really liked the way she closed her race off in defeat. Can settle much closer in the run, she’ll be effective late and has a bit of quality I suspect, plus stable is flying.

2 Moana Spirit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been kept on the fresh side since a win in the Geelong Diamond, making it 2/2 to start her career. She gave them a start and a beating there in an impressive effort. Tick over trial last week was quite good and she has the runs on the board.

10 Medicinal (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Hayes filly that debuts. Liked the way she went in a recent trial win at Geelong and the stable can get the juveniles to fire. Watch the market and see what it does with her.

1 Observer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has eyes on better/longer races but has class on his side and that is going to carry him a long way towards victory. He hasn’t raced since the Victoria Derby triumph when leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in. Jumpouts have been fair, suggesting he wants more ground, but class is very much on his side.

3 Planet Red (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class and is the Caulfield Guineas runner up. He tried his heart out there but just found one better in Autumn Boy. Two jumpouts under the belt for the return and 1400m fresh does signal intent with eyes towards the Guineas so keen to see how he goes.

2 Buccleuch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) resumed a few weeks back over this trip at Flemington when wide no cover throughout and the hard run told late. Maps much better this time around and with the run under the belt, is one for exotics.

5 Oak Hill (Bet Now:  $SP.00) did a pretty good job when resuming in the WJ Adams two weeks ago. He just got too far back, collided with Geegees Mistruth, but picked up and was pretty good late. Better for the run, can settle closer, extra 100m suits, hard to beat.

1 Hedged (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1100m after a dominant win in the Australia Stakes. Admittedly, it wasn’t much of a race, but he took advantage and was impressive in the run to the line. Lands on speed, hard fit and in form, he appeals.

Best version of 4 Maharba (Bet Now:  $SP.00) sees him beat this field up very comfortably. Just a matter of where he is at after two runs. Just fair in his return in the Standish before being taken off the track by the ill fated Cannonball in the Australia Stakes. D Day for him but class carries him a long way.

1 Tom Kitten (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the best horse, by a mile, but is he here to play with the ASM in mind? That said, he doesn’t need to be I don’t think because on class, he has lengths, proper lengths, on this field. Proper G1 horse taking on so so opposition and the jumpout work has been solid enough.

2 Veight (Bet Now:  $SP.00) did more than enough when first up in the Australia Stakes, sitting on speed and tried hard but had no answers late for impressive winner Hedged. Better for the run, up to 1400m, he has class…he goes close if he’s right to go.

3 Feroce (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is first up for Dom Sutton and creates interest at odds. He hasn’t raced since the Golden Eagle when down the track behind Autumn Glow, failing to fire. Jumped out well and 1400m fresh does signal some form of intent.

2 Alpha Sofie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a class filly from Queensland that had one run for Moody/Coleman in the Spring, making a mess of them in the Atlantic Jewel before being spelled. Looks to have jumped out well enough for the return and will be strong late.

4 Signature Scent (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Ciaron Maher trained filly that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since the Cap D’Antibes when fourth to My Gladiola, sitting near the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through. Jumped out well and has a kind map in her corner.

6 Thanks Gorgeous (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since a win down the straight at Flemington, leading throughout and she found plenty, proving quite strong to the line in getting the job done. Good racing style, she’s in a purple patch, commands respect.

1 Light Infantry Man (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has too much class for these I feel. Multiple Group l winner that resumes for Ciaron Maher, having not raced since a game second to She’s A Hustler in the Zipping Classic. Looked sharp in a recent Cranbourne jumpout win and seems very well in at the weights.

2 Willydoit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. He is a good horse when right. Just not sure what they are doing with him this time in, the latest run seeing him finish midfield in the Golden Eagle. First jumpout was strong…second jumpout? Was so so behind Light Infantry Man. See what the market does.

4 Whisky On The Hill (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a handy stayer for Glen Thompson that resumes. His last run came on Champions Day at Flemington when slogging it out best to win the Queen Elizabeth. He’ll be spotting them a start but be strong late and is a first four threat.

8 Ahha Ahha (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile after racing over 1400m several weeks ago at Geelong. She got off speed and just took a little too long to wind up but once she did, she savaged the line and drove hard late to just miss. Like her up to the mile and she finds a winnable race I think.

6 Sneaky Sunrise (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Flemington. She got into a decent spot in transit and loomed large but had no answers for the finale of the in form Welcometotheshow. Tick over trial was good and only has to hold her form to be around the mark.

1 Verdad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 1700m two weeks back here. He wasn’t suited by the sit/sprint set up of the race but he stuck on pretty well in defeat I thought behind Taken. Tricky draw, but a must for exotics.
