7/11/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben

Nine races will be run and won at Doomben on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out a half metre for the entire circuit.

I have to be with 2 Berdini’s Girl (Bet Now: $7.00). Chris Munce trained filly that had specking at a price when she debuted at the Sunny Coast over 1000m where she was back off the speed and looked to be bolting. Peeled into clear air and despite doing a bit wrong, gee she let down powerfully and was too good. Extra trip is ideal and she’ll improve off that.

If this was 1200m, I’d almost declare 1 Alert And Ready (Bet Now: $3.90). Just remaining at 1110m is the knock with her, but no doubting her ability. Ran over this track/distance two weeks ago and worked home strongly from off the speed when a close up third to Ghostwriter. If she can sit a pair closer in the run, she’ll take some beating.

I think 6 Miss Hipstar (Bet Now: $5.50) has a decent engine under the hood. She’s only had one public trial to get ready, which came on October 6 here. Off the speed throughout but what I liked is when Larry Cassidy asked for an effort, she responded and went well. Think she’ll sit off a good speed and be strong at the end.

4 Goldsborough (Bet Now: $4.40) has a touch of class and quality about himself and is a worthy horse to beat here. Had two runs in the Winter to start his career and finished runner up to Isotope and Gotta Kiss respectively, which is top shelf form in Queensland. Resumes without a trial, but he has to be a huge market and yard watch.

Class alone nearly gets 1 Isotope (Bet Now: $1.85) home. Tony Gollan trained filly that really created an impression in her opening prep during the Winter, but when she took on the big boys and girls, she was found wanting. Will be interesting to see this time in whether they press on in stepping her up in trip or keeping her to the sprints, where I feel she is more effective. Looks ready to go off two trials and is the class.

All you can do is win and that is what 6 Joyful Miss (Bet Now: $7.00) has done in her short career to date, winning both career outings. Debuted with a dominant win over 1000m at Ballina before stepping back to 900m at the Gold Coast and she was even more impressive. Harder here, but she’s got the race fitness on her side.

Think with a more conservative steer, 7 Windermere (Bet Now: $10.00) will be more effective and she does have more upside than most engaged here. Resumed with a strong win at Ballina before going to the Sunny Coast where Jake Bayliss rode her a bit warm and she did try hard. Just wasn’t as effective at the end of the race unlike fresh when finishing second. Hard to beat with a sit.

8 Fields Of Yulong (Bet Now: $2.70) is a Team Edmonds trained gelding that should put himself near the speed and trying hard, which is what he did over 2400m at Eagle Farm last time out and fought on strongly, but couldn’t quite fend off the challenge of He Runs Away. Spaced the rest though, so that’s a good sign and he’s bursting to win one.

One horse who will have no issue with the trip is 6 Bronzegate (Bet Now: $10.00). Symons/Laxon trained gelding that ran over 2200m at the Sunny Coast last time out and battled away pretty well in defeat when third to Traduce, beaten just under three lengths. He’s a hard fit, in form galloper, and does try very hard each time he steps out.

2 Moonshine Lady (Bet Now: $16.00) looks to lead this field up for fun and the map does lean me her way. Think she found the 1350m a bit far last time out here when on speed and tiring late behind a very much in form Beaufort Park. Back to 1200m, back to Mares grade, should lead comfortably and prove hard to beat.

Very interested in 10 L’Cosmo (Bet Now: $3.90), a former Team Snowden mare that now finds herself with David Vandyke and we know the record this stable has with cast offs. She doesn’t have the best of winning strike rates, but does try hard. Sunny Coast trial was quite good and does find a winnable race. Just the gate makes things tricky.

3 Thine Is The Power (Bet Now: $4.50) is a quality mare for the Edmonds stable that resumes. This girl produced a really strong Autumn prep, winning on a couple of occasions and all but establishing herself as a city class horse. Liked the two trials to get ready for her return and maps to sit off what looks a good tempo.

3 Stubai (Bet Now: $7.50) for me. Ricky Vale has done a fab job with this guy. Month between runs since attempting to lead throughout over 1800m at the Gold Coast where Wiggins pushed the button early, on the home turn, and he looked the winner, but was found wanting late, grabbed near the peg by an in form Ocean Treaty. Back to the mile with fresh legs, he’ll lead and give an almighty sight.

9 Sacred Suite (Bet Now: $6.00) is starting to put it together for Chris Waller after being a bit frustrating early on in his career. He’s really turned the corner recently, winning the last two, the latest over 1700m at Ipswich when bolting up and backed with confidence late. Horrible gate, but hard to knock the way he’s going.

8 Nic Nat Nui (Bet Now: $6.00) can bounce back. I was on him when he raced here last time out. Sat near a good speed and although a beaten horse on the turn, he whacked away and was a definite pass mark I thought when fourth to Seeingisbelieving. He has that 1600m run under the belt and that should hold him in good stead.

I’ll lean the way of 7 Dzsenifer (Bet Now: $9.00) for the Gary Duncan stable. This Scissoc Kick filly hasn’t raced since May 29 when an impressive winner over 1400m at the Gold Coast, beating home some quality types in the process. Interesting she resumes without a trial but 1350m first up tells me she’s just about around the mark for a first up win.

5 He’s The News (Bet Now: $10.00) is a progressive animal for Kelly Schweida. He is 2/2 this time in, both coming over 1200m at the Gold Coast. Backed as if unbeatable three weeks ago and though the margin was narrow, the win had merit given he was asked to chase from a fair way out. Think he can run well against these, provided the steer is conservative.

6 Corvo (Bet Now: $8.50) is third up now from a spell and up to 1350m, think he’s ready to run a much improved race. Both runs this time in have come over 1200m and each time, he has raced like he wants more ground, which he gets here. Showed good promise when last in work so I’d say this is just about D-Day for him.

5 Desert Lord (Bet Now: $2.10) for me. David Vandyke trained gelding that has had two runs for the stable, bolting up fresh before being a mini break and racing at Eagle Farm where he tried hard and closed off strongly late, just missing out on picking up The Harrovian. Depth here is nowhere near as strong and should take some beating.

14 Lubuk (Bet Now: $7.00) is a son of I Am Invincible for Chris Waller that had a month freshen up prior to racing at this track/distance three weeks ago when a drifter late in betting but sitting off a good speed, he was always going to be strong late and that was the case, finishing over the top for a good win. He’s got more to come and is hard to beat.

15 New Arrangement (Bet Now: $8.50) is a son of New Approach for the Chris Waller camp that resumes. He hasn’t raced since July 11 at Rosehill when placing over 2000m behind the then in form Korcho, and I think a little unlucky not to win as well. Trialled up well in readiness for his return to racing and can pull out a decent run fresh.

Happy to be with 4 Emerald Kingdom (Bet Now: $2.90). He was a dominant winner at this track/distance last Saturday, the race that was postponed from the previous Saturday due to heavy rain. He was on speed and not sure he was entirely comfortable in the going, but was much too good for his rivals. Back onto a firmer deck, quite keen on him.

Great to see 11 Ballistic Boy (Bet Now: $10.00) back at the races as he begins his journey towards the Magic Millions Stayers race. Resumes for Chris Anderson, having not raced since giving them a belting in the Rough Habit in what was a fast run race. Could have raced in the Spring but has been kept on ice for the Summer Carnival and his trials leading in have been great. Class alone nearly gets him home.

6 Get Stuck In (Bet Now: $21.00) is a son of Lucas Cranach for Tony Gollan that resumes. This gelding last raced in the Eagle Farm Mile during the Winter Carnival where he was wide no cover for the trip in a total forgive behind Gaulois. Normally needs a run or two, but he does have class and will be strong at the end of this.

Fascinating runner here is 6 Command’N’Conquer (Bet Now: $2.80), who resumes for the Steve Tregea camp. Showed really good promise when last in work, with that prep ending with a dominant win in a handy 3YO race at the Gold Coast. No public trials, but would assume he has had a jumpout or two at Toowoomba to get ready. Market will be the guide.

8 Snowzone (Bet Now: $9.50) is the class runner of the field and with the scratchings, the wide barrier isn’t so bad. Hasn’t raced for around two months since running a close up second over 1350m here behind Ziemba. Fresh legs and back to 1200m, he can sit off a good speed and be strong late. One of the hardest to beat I feel.

Fascinating runner is 2 Agassi (Bet Now: $31.00), a former Anthony Cummings runner that is now under the care of Diane Murphy. This gelding did a really good job when trained in Sydney, establishing himself as a Saturday class horse. Trials leading in have been pretty good and though 1200m is short of his best, he does have a touch of class.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 4 Emerald Kingdom

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 2 Moonshine Lady

LONG SHOT: Race Three Number 7 Windermere
